My youngest sister is into new experiences, so for her birthday she suggested that we try a breakout room. The group was six adults (family and spouses) and two younger children. I was concerned about the coordination of different age groups but I shouldn't have been. It was an incredible experience.

We did the "Museum Heist" room and it worked well for our eight-person group. It's non-linear with a number of separate puzzles all going at the same time. This meant that at any moment all eight of us were working on something, constantly calling to each other new codes to be tried out. Even the kids had something to contribute. Every single member of our group had at least one moment to shine. The mechanical design of the room was brilliant and a ton of thought and work clearly went into it.

The Game Master was fantastic, giving great clues without being too obvious, and jumping in at certain moments when we needed a little push (I don't remember her name, but she was the GM of Museum Heist on Sunday 11/11 at 4:30pm). From her interjections it was clear she was paying excellent attention to our efforts which was impressive, since I'd imagine it's easy to have your attention wander in such circumstances.

Advice? Museum Heist is, from what I've been able to learn, one of the hardest rooms there. We asked for 3 official clues (and got 2 free nudges) and still only beat the room with a minute or two to spare. I would be cautious about trying this with a small group (less than 5), because there are a considerable number of puzzles wrapped up in this room, and cranking through them with a small number of people may be challenging. That said, we were a little cramped with eight, so take that for what it's worth. Be ready to communicate with your team, be ready to fail a lot on the way to succeeding, and don't hesitate to ask for clues. My online research suggested that if the team hasn't solved something for a full five minutes you should ask for a clue, and I would agree with that.

I really cannot recommend this enough. The puzzles are brilliant and challenging but none require specialized knowledge (well, not too specialized); they reward patience and teamwork. It is not cheap, but it is worth it. My family and I look forward to doing it again.

We had an amazing time doing this for a date night with friends and family. We had 8 people in our room, and we had a few newbies who hadn't done this type of event before. The game master was helpful, but not overbearing. The room was set up with a variety of puzzles that allowed everyone in our team to play a role in our success. We cannot wait to go back and do another room.

The only "con", if there is one, is that now, they don't put you with strangers, you have your own room...I could see this being an issue if you wanted to do an impromptu game night and it was just you and your SO. BUT, for us, it was nice because we had plenty of people and it's less expensive with more folks!

My co-workers & I attended the Victory Over Violence Conference this summer in Louisville. We work for the Family Resource, Youth Services Centers & Community Education in Edmonson County. We always try to get in an escape game every time we all get together. We found this place on TripAdvisor and we just stopped by after dinner. We picked up the Mystery Mansion and it was a tough one. They let us have unlimited clues and we used the heck out of them! This game was hard but we had some great minds in our group. We escaped and made some great memories!

We wanted to thank the employees for putting up with our endless questions & laughter, the game Masters for the great game and the over all company for creating a great company & a great value!

ps we wear our shirts all the time!

So I decided to go to this location with some friends and with it being our first visit, we didn’t really know what to expect. The website was semi helpful in choosing a Break Out scenario, but we were not told of the difficulty of any of the scenarios. Not until we failed to complete the room in the allotted time. At that time, we were told the scenario we chose was one of the most difficult of them all and especially difficult for someone who had never been through the experience. Again, we were not told this until after the experience was over. I feel the staff should make customers aware and be more transparent, than to just take out money and offer us a picture upon our exit. Overall, I think the price paid versus the assistance provided are not even. I would be afraid to give this another chance as the disappointment of what “Break Out” really is is quite misleading and was not an enjoyable experience for our group.

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience with us, Michael. Thank you for your review and feedback. We would hate to think that the time you spent with us recently would keep you from playing again. Our team would love to hear your feedback on which parts of the games you felt were considerably difficult for first-timers. We would also love to hear where you felt the assistance didn't meet expectations if it differs from the difficulty levels of the rooms. Your feedback will help us improve our customer service. Please reach out to our Hospitality Team at hospitlatiy@breakoutgames.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

We booked the Runaway Train, which was then their newest room.
The room was linear, so when you got stuck there was nothing else to do then try to solve that one puzzle or ask for a clue. We were with five people, so when we got stuck on a puzzle, only a few of us could work on it and the rest just had to stand by. A lot of detail was put in the room but unlike many other escape rooms there were no "spatial surprises" so to say. Staff was very friendly and helpfull.

Hans, thank you playing our newest room, Runaway Train, and for sharing your feedback with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the detail that was put into the room and that the staff was very friendly and helpful. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy how the room was linear and that there was downtime for some of the guests while others were solving a puzzle. We definitely understand how that could be frustrating. We would love to hear more about your experience. Please reach out to our Hospitality Team directly at hospitality@breakoutgames.com so we can help make things right.

As a mother of four, I am constantly looking for a fun activity for my children ages 5-16. We stumbled upon this location a few weeks ago and have visited twice since. The employees are kind, organized and really do a great job making this place a great environment for everyone. Breakout of Louisville has been a great place to visit and everyone in our family is always excited to renturn. We have completed Runaway Train and Mystery Mansion, we competed both scenarios with about 5 minutes to spare. If you want to get your family out of the house and off of their electronics for awhile, I strongly recommend visiting this location. Five stars all the way around!
