A very nice and historic hotel. I found that it was very clean and still maintained all of the original charm. Stayed in the Gatsby Suite and really enjoyed the room.

Located next to 4th street and within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants in the area.

Would stay here again if I would be in the area.

Beautiful vaulted cellar. Stained glass skylight in lobby. Didn't make it to the Oak Room. Larry Johnson, hotel historian, has written books on the hotel and presides with dignity and grace over the executive lounge. I love that he has been authorized to wear a morning coat in recognition of his long service. Well-managed hotel, friendly staff. Did not score higher due to creaky, historic infrastructure, a longish wait for check-in, and a smallish room. Though centrally situated, many blocks in the vicinity lack vitality. No pool.

Good morning and thank you for your feedback! Our owners and management team, both past and present, will appreciate your recognition of our continued efforts to maintain this historic, architectural gem. That being said, the aesthetics of our grand architecture can not make up for a lack of comfort in your guest experience. I apologize for the long wait that you experienced at check in. Likewise I regret not having had the opportunity to provide a change to a larger room that could have better served your needs. I also apologize if our team failed to inform you of our partnership with the YMCA, located 2 blocks from the hotel. Our guests enjoy complimentary access to the pool and fitness facilities at the YMCA through purchase of a day pass. By simply bringing your day pass receipt back to the hotel front desk, we are able to reimburse your YMCA charges on the spot.

While we take great pride in our history and in being Louisville's Grand Hotel, we embrace the exciting new changes that are taking place in the downtown area. Be sure to come visit again soon as the city has partnered with developers to invest more than $400 Million over the next 2 years in downtown building projects that will include retail, office and entertainment space.

Thank you once again for your business and valuable feedback. We greatly appreciate the time taken out of the busy schedule of our many business travelers to write an honest review.

Yours in Hospitality,

The staff is very good. We had food in the bottom lobby. Food was great and the room was amazing. The design is so intricate. The hotel is right next to a lot of entertainment. I really am enjoying it so far!

We heard about this while partaking in the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and just had to pay the Seelbach a visit. The staff was very helpful as the Oakroom was closed that day but they let us take a peak, even apologizing for the lack of linens on the table. It was neat to see all the details in that room and the Rathskeller, one of the rare Rockwood pottery rooms with beautiful zodiac designs on the leather ceiling. It was a beautiful property.

Thank you for stopping in! I'm sure Al would appreciate you paying the room a visit. I'm glad you were able enjoy the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. It has been a wonderful recent addition to the ever-growing list of downtown Louisville attractions. Come stay with us for a night or two next time you are in Louisville. We'll have plenty of Evan Williams behind the bar for you to enjoy!

We were very excited to stay here for the first time. Walking in to that lobby was incredible. It really took you back to the old days. Check-in was smooth and the room as great. Very clean and smelled fantastic. The location is great too as there are tons of shops and restaurants all within a block or so. Later in the evening we took some time walking around and taking pictures and when we were in the Rathskellar (a very old Capone dance hall/bar), Patrick, the security guard, took time out of his day to share with us information on the history. He walked with us through the Oak Room and the Grand Ballroom...all with such historic stories and significance. That definitely made our trip! I would recommend the Seelbach to anyone wanting to visit Louisville. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: From what we can see from the outside and our room on the 8th floor, there isn't really a good v...

We chose this hotel because it is part of the Hilton chain, but the history of the Seelbach and the excellent staff are what made the stay really special. Spend the extra money for the concierge floor. Breakfast is nice but the evenings are the best. The snacks are tasty, the drinks are cheap and Margy is the most wonderful hostess. The hotel is spectacular. The lobby with its marble floor, historic tapestries and sweeping staircase will take your breath away. Go upstairs to the Oakroom just for the smell of the polished wood. This is the only 5-diamond AAA rated restaurant in Kentucky. We didn't eat there because we were with a reunion group that had planned dinners, but we will go back someday. Not to be missed is the Rathskellar in the basement. This was the location of speakeasies back in the day and the walls and columns make up the largest collection of Rookwood pottery in the world. The leather ceilings are embossed with the signs of the zodiac. There's history here too: F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Great Gatsby and Al Capone. You have to see it to believe it. Ask any of the staff about the hotel's history; they are all happy to share and obviously proud of where they work. There's lots to see and do in Louisville (Churchhill Downs is a must-visit) but a stay at the Seelbach is worth the trip.

You are too kind! We love to receive high marks from our guests and I am thrilled to hear that you had such a wonderful experience. You are correct that we are proud to work here and we always enjoy playing host to those who appreciate the history as much as we do. I am glad that you had the opportunity to tour the Rathskellar. It is a gem of both history and architecture and it takes my breath away every time I walk into the room.

I will be sure to pass along your compliments to Margy. She is a wonderful asset to the hotel and I am glad to hear she helped provide a wonderful experience in the Concierge Lounge.

I am sorry you did not get an opportunity to dine with us in the Oakroom, but it leaves something for your Seelbach to-do list for your next visit.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate all guest feedback and we realize the value of both your business and your time to share your thoughts. On behalf of our entire staff I say thank you, and we look forward to your return.

Although we were part of a convention and did not stay at this property, we thought our experience at The Old Seelbach Bar was wonderful and needed to be acknowledged. This was our third stop on the urban bourbon trail. Excellent service from the bartender, Cindy, who was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about bourbons. We also enjoyed the architecture of this property.
