“Wonderful visit ...”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Returned home last night from a wonderful stay at Country Girl at Heart Farm Bed & Breakfast. Our hostess Darlene was great ... very gracious and filled with lots of interesting stories! We had a mini-family reunion (4 of the 7 females in the family) and a great time was had by all including the almost 2 year old. The rooms were lovely from the large family area in the lower floor (ping pong, puzzles, large screen TV, kids toys, treadmill, and much more) to the great room and dining room, to our lovely private bathroom and bedroom, plus adjoining bedroom. The grounds provided lots of beauty and fun too ... helping feed the 100+ chickens, gather eggs, feed bunnies and horses all made for an authentic learning experience for the kids and the adults! Almost forgot to say ... breakfasts were great also! It was fun to share a wonderful meal with the other guests and the food was really yummy from the farm fresh eggs to the fabulous blueberry-sausage casserole - a recipe Darlene wrote out and shared with all of us. And Darlene even made the breakfasts a learning experience by explaining about charger plates and having the children and ladies go first. I am so glad we picked this wonderful B & B!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Gentry Room and had the extra sleeping parlor opened. This gave us plenty of room f...

This is a wonderful B&B for many reasons. Darlene is so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are lovely. The breakfasts were huge and delicious. We loved all of the animals. Watching all of the chickens come running for their breakfast is a site I will never forget. The B&B is in a good location for visiting many sites in the area including Cub Run Cave (an absolute must see!), Mammoth Cave, Lincoln's birthplace, etc. If we go back to Kentucky I would definitely stay there again.

This Mother's Day gift for my wife was absolutely delightful from start to finish. From the moment we arrived the owner of the property made us feel welcome. Darlene was waiting or us and had a personal greeting up for my wife and family as we walked in the door and snacks available for weary travelers. She gave us a tour of the house and grounds and showed us to our clean, spacious & wonderfully decorated and comfortable rooms. Each room was individually climate controlled and had a wonderful large bathroom with a whirlpool tub. After we returned for dinner there were freshly baked cookies and ice cold milk available. Delicious!

Breakfast was excellent! Sausage, bacon, farm fresh eggs (that we gathered), a specially made french toast, chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes, real Vermont maple syrup, donuts and pastries. Fresh cold orange juice and milk, hot coffee and tea.

Darlene made all of this on Mother's Day when she herself is a mom to several children. She went out her way to make this a nice Mother's Day for my wife and trip for us. Darlene is always smiling, very upbeat and a pleasure to converse with.

The property was beautiful and fun to explore with many farm animals.

We would recommend Country Girl at Heart Bed & Breakfast and Darlene's hospitality to anyone who wishes a good nights sleep with all the love and comforts of home.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Country Girl Bed & Breakfast and I have to say it's one of the best if not THE best bed and breakfast we have stayed at. The rooms are terrific and the breakfast experience was stellar. I looked forward to breakfast everyday not just for the food, which was excellent, but to the interaction with the other guests at the large dining area. The guests staying with us at the time were from all over the US and all had interesting stories. From the families from Florida who's kids saw snow for the first time while they were at the bed and breakfast to the couple who were celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary, the interaction with the other guests was just as memorable as the activities themselves. My girlfriend especially liked the animals on the farm. Right after breakfast I was always reminded that "It's time to feed the chickens!" This B&B is also located ideally. It's out in the country but it is only 20-30 minutes away from most activities in the area(dining, caving, shopping, etc). In total we had a superb stay with Ms. Darlene at her Country Girl Bed and Breakfast and we will without a doubt be returning.

My husband and I spent three nights this week at Country Girl Bed & Breakfast and could not have been more pleased. The innkeeper Darlene is an excellent host and made us feel welcome right away. The lowest floor of the inn is dedicated to children's activities, though the adults may enjoy it, too. Comraderie among guests was great. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean. After Darlene's delicious breakfast, we were able to feed the chickens, horses, goats, and rabbits. We also gathered the eggs. Darlene excelled at showing the other guests' children how it's all done. Thank you, Darlene, for a wonderful few days! We'll definitely be back and bring our grandchildren.

Room Tip: All the guests seemed pleased with their rooms. I don't think you can go wrong.

My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary here. The whimsical eclectic decor, the
eco friendly farm environment was creatively inspirational. The breakfast was exquisitely prepared by the owner "Darlene". Her stories, laughter and energy are infectious, captivating and
comforting. Memories of childhood summers on my grandparents farm came flooding back to me as we enjoyed each others company in the quiet. Each room has a story and every nook and cranny is filled with treasures to be discovered. The local activities, Amish markets and small town
stores spaced within 10 to 20 minutes of the farm are fascinating.
We gathered eggs, fed the horses, chickens and experienced a side of life that the city doesn't offer. I highly recommend spending the week. We only had two days and though we had the most relaxing enjoyable time, we discovered that there was more to do and explore than two days would allow. We plan to return soon, bringing our grand children. We want them to share the friendly atmosphere the farm provides and see that there is more to living life than computers, cellphones, and television. Highly recommend for couples, families, or those who just need to get away.

Room Tip: The Artisan room had the best view of the farm. It's on the furthest back corner of the house an...

My Husband and I drove down from Cincinnati to for a weekend getaway. It was a lovely experience. It was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast and we loved it. Darlene was awesome, the room was amazing, the breakfasts superb, in a nutshell everything was perfect. We took advantage of a massage on Saturday night which helped add to our overall relaxing weekend. We enjoyed going out into the farm before sightseeing at nearby attractions. We loved it and are definitely thinking of repeating the visit.
