I am in town often and love Kirchoffs. Both the bakery and deli restaurant. I just wish the deli was open to serve a hot breakfast! But there is almost some breakfast food at the bakery in addition to all of those wonderful pastries cookies and bread. Highly recommend. Locally owned for generations and nice employees.

We stopped here on a trip from St. Louis to Nashville. It is a little bit of a drive from the highway, but it was in a quaint little area of Paducah near the river and a fun place for a break while on a road trip. The food was excellent!

This authentic bakery with bread loaves cooling on a rack, shelves filled with various types of bagged loaves, cookies and pastries begs you to take some home. The adjoining Deli has hot soups, sunny tables indoors from skylit windows, and your choice of sandwich on the bakery's breads. Good music, brick walls, but mostly chef quality soups and sandwiches. Will return there.

I was expecting a real old-fashioned Southern bakery run by old-time Germans, but this place had the kind of hipster look favored by earnest bakery-coffee shops--it reminded me a bit of Black Bear in St Louis, an anarchist collective bakery on Cherokee Street. Kirchoff has that unplanned wood and blackboard look, not quite a cliche, and has both fabulous pastries--the southern pecan brownie is probably worth twice what it cost--and first-rate coffee . lots of unusual options for coffee, all made with care. I would go there daily if I didn't live so far away.

Our little downtown is a wonderful place to spend the day. Start your day off here and try the fantastic baguette. It is my favorite I've had anywhere. Crusty outside; chewy inside. Delicious with some cheese, butter and salami.

The scones are absolutely spot-on as well. They're not super-sweet and cakey, like so many tend to be in America. These are more like a dense biscuit. Barely sweet. EXCELLENT with the tea sold at the connected coffee shop.

Sandwiches are very popular here as well. Go early to get the best selection. I want to try their Nawlins bread, but it has been sold out every time I have tried to get it. Last trip, the man in front of me got the last loaf.
