“Great service and atmosphere”
Reviewed 7 August 2012

We have eaten at this resturaunt a couple of times now and have enjoyed it both times. Wonderful, old home converted into a resturaunt that works really well. Service was outstanding and the food very good. We definitely will be back on our next visit to Simpsonville.

“Dissapointing”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

Party of four on a Wednesday evening arrived to nearly empty parking lot and sign on front door that Air conditioning was not cooling. Seated in large side dining room where only one other couple occupied the space. Chairs were not stable and hard to move on the nondescript carpeting. Round table with plexiglass cover over tablecloth and set with cafeteria quality silverware.

Server described the specials without pricing ($31 for the steak special). Menu is rather limited and they were out of one of the few appetizers. Our party ordered a selection which included rib eye steak, fried chicken, pork chop and chicken with artichokes. One basket of rolls was served with the plain water. The butter was individual packets of country crock . Two of us had salads for which there was a Sharing extra charge

The entrees were good however lacking in presentation. The Steak was ordered medium and came very rare with only french fries , the fried chicken dinner had good taste but looked like KFC. The french green beans on the other two dishes were blanched but not cooked.

Since this was a birthday dinner the server advised us that they used to have cake for birthdays "but don't do that anymore". We passed on dessert.Service was acceptable, no overly long waits, but then again by this time we were alone in the rather warm dining room.

We would not return, setting and quality not up to the high pricing.

“Not so great lunch”
Reviewed 11 May 2012

This is not the Old Stone Inn lunch experience of years past. Mainly only uninspired sandwich offerings. Soup was obviously microwaved as it was hot around the edges of the bowl and cold in the middle but the taste was not great either. Water glasses were not clean and had to be replaced. Second round of water still had one glass with food on the outside. Service was mediocre.

“Quiet dining atmosphere”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

The atmosphere at the Old Stone Inn is charming; the building was was erected in the early 1800s and added onto throughout the years. The floor creaks and is uneven as you walk across it and you think to yourself the stories this place could tell if it could talk.

We visited on a weekday evening. We did not have reservations but were seated promptly. Only four tables were occupied and about four patrons were seated at the bar. I ordered the scallops ($25) and a tea, my wife the spaghetti with homemade sauce and a glass of white zin. We were given some biscuits and fresh butter for table fare.

Our food arrived promptly and hot. My 4 scallops were served over a bed of risotto and some seared spinach making an attractive presentation. Unfortunately, it was quite salty that didnt manifest itself until I was well into the meal. My wife's pasta and sauce was also a bit salty for her taste. We did not get dessert or any post-meal beverage. Our total bill with the tip was $62

We have eaten here before and I can recommend the fried chicken or the chicken livers.
