“Fantastic Stay!”
Reviewed 23 September 2013

We stayed at the B&B for the Bardstown Kentucky Bourbon Festival. It was such a treat! Todd met us when we arrived at 10:00 pm and warmly greeted us. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. The food is unbelievable and even in the evenings we talked with Tyler and Todd about the history of the house. We felt very at home and the rooms were very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and it was really hard to leave! We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get away from it all and just relax.

We had stayed at other farm-based B&Bs and decided to try Maple Hill Manor when we were in the Bardstown area. We’re also interested in historic homes, and this 1851 home with its Civil war connection seemed interesting. The house sets at the end of a long lane with farm fields all around. We were greeted warmly by Todd who gave us a brief orientation, then we took carrots to feed some of the 40+ alpacas on the farm. There’s a nice arbor, a fountain, and some plantings in the front, and a small gazebo and swing to one side. But there aren’t nice landscaped gardens like we’ve seen at some other B&Bs; the view from our second-floor room (one of 7 guest rooms) was of fields, not gardens. And at 162 years, the house and rooms show some wear. Common areas are comfortable, but our room lacked some details; a loose fixture, unplugged lamp at inaccessible outlet, no hair dryer. And there’s little documentation about the house for history buffs. But the bed and sheets were indeed luxurious. A large, delicious breakfast was prepared by Tyler and presented by Todd and coffee, tea, and desserts were available in the afternoon. If you’re looking for a rural experience in bourbon country, give this a try. Otherwise, you might find a nice B&B with more attractions closer to Bardstown.

Room Tip: Jefferson Davis room is on the front of the house, looking toward alpaca pastures. We didn't not...

The loveliest hotel we have ever stayed at. Nice and historic decor. Very diligent owners who try to make the stay as unforgettable and comfortable as possible. The historic heritage and enclosed alpaca farm is tremendous. For those who seek relaxation and love being far from anything it's the right place to be.

I could just cut and paste everyone else's review! Instead I will just say that I agree fully. If you are in the area, or interested in touring the Bourbon trail, you should stay here. End of story! The one tiny downfall of the place was the very small shower, but I understand that this is a historic property and they had to make due with the space they had to put a full bathroom in each of the 7 rooms. Everything else was great!!!

Room Tip: Abraham Lincoln Library was very interesting and took us back in time! We didn't even turn on t...

This was a part of my birthday trip from my husband. What a lovely place to stay. Todd & Tyler are phenomenal hosts...made us feel at home right away. Offered to help us in any way: bags, maps, restaurants for dinner, history of the hotel. On our way out to dinner, we mentioned to Todd that the smoke detector was beeping (time to change the battery!). It was fixed by the time we returned from dinner! The bed was comfortable. We had the room in the back, with its own entrance, which also included a little balcony. What a wonderful place to see the perfect starry sky, with no light or noise pollution. The little store has all kinds of alpaca/llama & other items with which to remember your stay. The animals were beautiful, including Miss Priss, an extremely friendly little black kitty! She wanted to come home with us! The breakfast was delicious & filling, & the people we met were delightful! Definitely a place worthy of return visits! Thank you, Todd & Tyler!

Room Tip: We had 3 outside walls and a private entrance, so it was very quiet.

My wife and I stayed at Maple Hill over the Labor Day weekend and, as usual (we are repeat guests), everything was wonderful. The grounds are spacious and lovely; the manor and guest rooms are great; and breakfast is fantasic. But best of all are our hosts, Todd and Tyler, who always go out of their way to make our stay the best it can be.

What a beautiful, historic home! We received our stay as a gift - were a little apprehensive since it was our first B&B experience. We were immediately put at ease with the hospitality shown us. Breakfast was phenomenal - homemade and plenty to eat. Very convienently located to the bourbon trail. Bardstown is a short drive - it has many restaurants and attractions. We enjoyed visiting some historic churches.
