“Comfy Bed! Outrageously expensive bar!!!”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

Room was top notch! Bed was quite possibly most comfortable hotel bed ever slept in! Had a one-bedroom suite and came with robes! Nice touch. Super quiet rooms even though first room down hallway. Glass of wine at the bar was $16!!! Three prices given on menu for each drink and lowest price for wine was $5. Assumed this was price for a glass. NO! $5 was price for a "demi-glass" (aka "shot glass") of wine! Who ever heard of that?! Certainly not my group. We were all very disappointed in being charged $16 for a glass of wine after making a not so ridiculous assumption that it would be $5. Otherwise great experience.

We certainly apologize for the confusion on the demi price. Since we have our wonderful Enomatic Machines we try to give options for people to try a little bit of everything. Thank you for taking time out of your day to write the review and we hope to see you again. This time we can point you to some glasses that may be more in the range you are looking for!

Everything about our stay was excellent, the Renaissance was right across from the Mall, which is a plus. The only down side is that the hotel shuttle wouldn't take us to the New Casino since it was 5.7 miles away so we took a cab - the cab driver was rude and took the long way. We would have much preferred to have been able to use the hotel shuttle as we had already valet parked our car at the hotel, didn't know our way around, and didn't know if we might all have a couple of drinks. If I ever need to stay in Baton Rouge again, I will definitely stay at the Renaissance.

Beautiful hotel, with friendly staff. Stayed here for one night, and will stay here again. Very clean rooms, which made a nice end to a long road trip!!!! Our room had two full beds with a seperate living area. Even though we did not swim, the pool area looked very nice as well!!!

From the moment you walk in the elegant front doors, you are greeted with a contemporary hotel. The lobby and halls are filled with original art by artists from the Baton Rouge area. Check in is quick and run by courteous staff. Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. On the second floor are the meeting and board rooms, and workout room, all with original art on the walls. The location is convenient for LSU games, mall shopping, and it just a hop off of I-10 on the way to New Orleans.

My husband and I live in the area, but thought we would check out the nice new hotel for our anniversary. We have two small children, so we wanted to be nearby, but were looking forward to a little getaway. Upon check-in , I thought the place was beautiful and I was excited. However, things took a turn for the worse and seemed to go downhill from there. First, we were given a room that was the absolute farthest from the elevator. This may seem minor, but I was annoyed at having to walk so far with luggage when the place wasn't even booked solid. Second, we arrived at the room to discover a stinking hamburger left in the hallway opposite of us. From the look of it, it had been there a while. We proceeded down tot the pool and were greeted with a sign saying it closed at 5:00 for a private function. No one alerted us to this prior to check-in or even DURING check-in. So, we spent an hour at the pool, but did not enjoy it because there were about 8 chairs to sit on and they were all taken. I was becoming really frustrated and went to the front desk to see if we could leave and get refunded. They told me they understood and yes, we could. I was a bit annoyed that they did not try to make an effort to fix anything at the time. But by the time we got back to the room, there was a message from Corey at the front desk. He apologized for the trouble and offered to upgrade us to the large executive suite. He personally met us at the new room with the key. Later that night when we returned from dinner, we found champagne and strawberries in the room as well. Very nice touch. Perfect example of giving your employees the power to make things right for the customer. This probably cost little on their part, but it made all the difference in my attitude about the place. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time your recent experience with us. I am disappointed that the beginning of your stay started so bad and apologize for our shortcomings. We have empowered our Ambassadors to try their best to repair the damage done and it appears that Corey took ownership of the issues that you had and recovered in several ways, your stay. Corey is an outstanding Ambassador for the Renaissance Baton Rouge and I will see to it that your comments are shared with him.

Pleasant staff providing good service. Nicely decorated and new clean feel. We stayed in a suite that had 2 queen beds and a fold out coach in the living room. It worked out great because our kids wanted to sleep on the fold out so we had the room to ourselves. Rooms was spacious and clean. Shopping and restaurants very close. Would definitely stay again.

This was a really nice hotel. Very clean and well designed. Located centrally with easy access to the freeway. Staff are friendly and well informed. The resurant down stairs is great for a sun downer and its well decorated. Many restaurants close by a new shopping mall which is walking distance.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher level. That way you can see the city.
