This is a very extensive museum with a huge number of exhibits. The History of Louisiana was particularly interesting but we didn't have time to do it justice. Another visit would have been nice but we just didn't have the time.

Attended a wedding here recently....and the museum was open for us to visit....I am glad I had the chance, it is very nicely done for a small museum....It features everything it can about the state of Louisiana....If your in the area, its a nice addition to your trip.

We looked everywhere for over an hour until a police car stopped to tell us to move on and we were able to ask where park!!! Go to the corner of River Road behind the Welcome Centre for cheap public parking and then walk to the Museum

The museum is on of the best state heritage museum we have visited. It recognizes every aspect of life style, industry, region, heritage, history, music, literature, business, schools, military, etc. If you get a chance to meet the young woman volunteer host walking the museum asking if you have any questions. Do not hesitate to ask her for suggestions for restaurants and most of all stories from the exhibits. She is a fantastic hostess for the museum. We learned so much there and appreciated how the Spanish, French held as a territory before America purchased it from Napoleon Bonaparte.

From the history on the ground floor to the cultural upstairs, there is something for everyone. It is a credit to the curator that so much has been squeezed in. A must when visiting Baton Rouge.
