First let me say we are Hilton Honors members and generally always stay at a Hilton family hotel. As is usually the case, the Baton Rouge downtown location was very good and service and amenities were excellent. We would not hesitate to stay there again. The river view also added to our experience.
I will, however, make a few comments in regard to some accessibility issues we had. On checking in we were given one of only two handicap parking spaces. Inadvertently a night clerk gave another handicap pass to a third party and we were unable to park in the designated parking spot for any of the four nights we were there. I don't know what can be done to alleviate the situation but it is something that needs looking into. Next, when handicapped and very unstable as I am you find yourself holding on to whatever is available to steady yourself. The handicap bars in the bathrooms are great but not the one face towel/wash rag rack that was near the door in our room (403). I grabbed it and it came to pieces. I would recommend that all bars and racks in the handicap rooms be secured. And, a final note, we found the floor in the bathroom a bit slippery for whatever reason. Our traveling companions in a regular room noted the same thing. It may require looking into as well.More
