Love this hotel...beautiful view if you have a river view. Would liked to have had a minifridge and microwave in the room but overall it is a really nice hotel. The beds are so comforable. Was given shuttle rides to and from the casinos and the hotel is central location to restaurants and bars.

We were in Baton Rouge for Christmas with family and checked in here late Christmas night. The valet service guys were spot-on, the front desk staff were courteous and friendly and the entire hotel was quiet and welcoming. I actually love this place. I've stayed here before and have been impressed with the hotel's ability to handle a full house and their ability to handle a late check-in on Christmas night when I'm sure they would have rather been elsewhere.

The rooms are very comfortable. We had a corner room with a view of the Louisiana capital and the old capital building which has itself been stunningly refurbished. The bed was perfect and the linens smelled like heaven. The bathroom was tiled in a small black and white tile that throws you back to those historic 1920's buildings with huge towels. The doors to the rooms are so heavy that a marching band could pass through the hall and you wouldn't hear a peep.

Here's the important thing to remember...Baton Rouge is not a big city so this place is not far from anything. My sister's house is 8 miles from The Hilton Capital Center. There are hotels that are closer but once you're in the car, what's 5 minutes vs. 10 minutes? And if you're looking for a perfect place to stay while you're there, this hotel is more than worth the extra 5 minutes.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room.

Our stay at the Hilton Capitol was for 4 nights while orchestrating my daughter's wedding. The facilities are quite nice, though rooms are a bit on the small side. My understanding is that this property is a renovation of a historical old hotel, nicely done while retaining the original layout, so the smaller rooms are understandable. The strongest point was the staff! Everyone was very helpful, cheerful, and just plain fun to interact with. Except...

Checking out on Sunday, December 22, two attendants at the front desk were just plain rude and condescending. Until than the stay was wonderful, but this 5 minute exchange left a sour taste for the trip and prevents a 5 star rating. Several family members experienced the same thing--it wasn't just me. Maybe the staffers were just having a really bad day.

Tis a shame, because everything else was wonderful. Perhaps in time I'll choose to go back.

I came to Baton Rouge for the annual pre-Christmas gathering of friends. We get together and enjoy the sounds of New Orleans jazz into the early hours. My girlfriend and I chose this hotel for the convenience of its location to the downtown area for the rest of the weekend. It was quite nice to be walking distance from entertainment so one might have a very festive evening. Would recommend to anyone.

The Hilton Baton Rouge is a charming hotel and meets all your business or personal needs for traveling. The restaurant had great food and pricing was reasonable. The bar was warm an inviting and great price on wines. All in all this is a great place to stay and is walking distance of many cool bars and restaurants
