“Great Swamp Tour”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

When you come to the stop sign at Rookery turn RIGHT. Going left is another swamp tour. Turn right and go to the metal broken down looking building with the porta johns out front. This is the right place. Our guide ran a few minutes behind and we almost followed another family to the other area thinking it was the right tour but if you want Cajun country follow the above directions. Had our grandmother with us who moves slow and has a hard time walking the guide helped her get into the boat and was very friendly. Saw lots of animals in the swamp, guide knew his stuff. Don't sit in the front of the boat or when he runs through the lillypads you will be covered in swamp bugs. Overall it was fun, took lots of pictures, worth a visit!

“Wonderful tour, great wildlife, fantastic guide”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

It was a beautiful morning, we went on the 8 am tour and thought it would be hot, but it was surprisingly cool. It was my husband and I and our 3 children ages 8,7 and 2.
We saw probably 10 alligators, turtles, frogs, insects, tons of beautiful birds and beautiful flowers. The alligators were fun to see, but the other wildlife would have been sufficient, I was so pleased with all we saw. It was interactive as well, the guide ( Shawn) let us feel different pieces of things like flowers and lillypads to feel for their water resistance.

I can't say enough good things, we all had such a good time. It was an ecotour, not a commercial swamp tour, We didn't feed the alligators so they would get closer. We just observed them in their natural habitats and the guide had so much knowledge. It was very education, interesting and just FUN. I would recommend this tour to anyone young our old. It held our 2 year olds attention as well as the older ones the entire time.

Butch was our tour guide, and he was great. You can tell that he loves the area that he lives and works in. This was our best experience while visiting the "Cajun" area.

“Fantastic tour!”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

It was well worth the 2.5 hour drive. Tour guide was extremely knowledgable about the plants and animals. He obviously had a lot of respect for the natural world. I learned a lot and saw some beautiful landscape!

“Sunscreen, a hat and water”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We did the swamp tour on June 12th at 8 am. We made a reservation by phone. Look at their website for directions, because you will only see a sign when you arrive. There is no office, but there are 3 restroom cabins (the type the constructors use). Make sure you have sunscreen, a hat and water because mostly you will not be in the shade.
We saw plenty of birds and about 5 gators. They do not feed the animals and they approach them gently. You have plenty of opportunities to take pictures.
