This B&B is a historic farm house beside the church in a lovely country village near Oxford. It's a really distinctive place to stay and the hospitality is excellent. The owner is very friendly and helpful with local information. The breakfast choice is good and tasty - with both cooked and fresh options. The location is great for exploring the Cotswolds - but you definitely need a car to be able to experience the area fully. The benefit of staying in the country rather than Oxford itself (other than the choice of country pubs in the area!) is waking up to bird song rather than traffic noise.

We came to stay at Rectory Farm, as we had a Alistair Sawday's voucher which got us two nights for the price of 1. We booked it as it was near to oxford and we wanted to do some sightseeing around oxford. The park and ride is only about 20 mins away. There is also a town called Witney about 10 mins away and it has lots of shops and restaurants if you dont want to venture into oxford. The b and b was lovely and our double room was very cosy. The shower was massive and very powerful. The bed is very comfy! When we arrived, the owners lit a fire for us in the sitting room and made us tea with shortbread biscuits (to die for!). They did this also when we arrived back from our trip into oxford on our second day. It was very peaceful and ejoyable sitting in front of the fire and reading or watcing telly on thier widescreen plasma t.v. The breakfast was lovely. it started with a selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt. orange juice, tea and coffee was all on offer. A fried breakfast could follow or even a bacon sandwich for the smaller appetites. toast on the side, with butter and homemade preserves. The pub is literally two doors down, and i had a beautifully cooked steak, salad and chips, but my husband had liver and bacon which he said wasn't very nice. if you dont want to drive anywhere then its ideal for a quick bite. there are more pubs further up the road ,on the main road, but we didnt know about these. They are probably walkable but a long walk! unfortuantly we didnt get a chance to explore the area, but it seemed like a lovely country village. If you get a chance visit Bourton on the Water. It is about 40 minutes away but is known as 'the venice of the cotswolds' and is a beautiful village with lots of little tearooms, museums, shops and boutiques. Very picturesque!!
