My parents, husband, daughters and I spent Mother's Day weekend at the Houmas House Plantation. It was perfection. The staff was extremely kind and helpful upon check in. The rooms were beautifully curated and well thought out. The gardens and grounds absolutely blew us away. My daughters danced and twirled their way through all of the gardens and we all had a blast! My husband and I ate at Latil's and it was fine cuisine, luxury, and service at it's best. The cottages were very comfortable and we all slept well. Breakfast at the Carriage House was at the same time relaxed and luxurious. We then toured the plantation that was rich in history and the tour was so interesting that it flew by! We had a lovely, magical weekend, and we already want to go back! Great job on the renovation - it is obvious that it has taken a tremendous amount of thought, energy, and planning.

We (East Germans) were on a three-week tour that led us from Atlanta, Tallahassee, Fort Walton Beach, New Orleans, Darrow/Baton Rouge, Natchez, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville back to Atlanta and we stayed here for one night (April 2014). This was the absolute highlight of our trip, pure luxury. There are no words to describe our night here. Yes, it was the most expensive night of our tour, but it was definitely worth it! Everything was perfect. It was a place were we were able to truly relax. Breakfast was superior. We took a tour of the house in morning and also walked to the river to take a few pictures. We were very sad we had to leave - 2-3 days here would have been awesome!

The two of us stayed here for Easter weekend. We had visited the beautiful mansion and grounds and had an amazing dinner at Latil's Landing in the main house last year, but these cottages have only been here for less than a year. They are first class luxurious. When you rent a cottage, you check in at the gift shop and one of the guys takes you and your bags over to your cottage using one of the large golf cars. (The large parking lot for the mansion goes practically up to the cottage also, but it's better to have them take you there the first time.) Frankly, I was in a little shock, pleasantly, I should say. All the other B&B's on plantation grounds are very aged and old fashioned - but not this place. These are new cottages with great AC, really luxurious bathrooms, quality antique furnishings, tankless hot water (you never run out of hot water), HD TV's. Since they are just getting started, they don't have ice or refrigerators yet, but you can call the gift shop on your cell phone and one of the guys will rush some right over. We rented the Grand Suite and really loved it. Breakfast in the beautiful Carriage House restaurant in the gardens was complimentary. One of the best aspects of staying here is that you are within a very short walking distance from the amazing gardens and paths, from the restaurants, and from the mansion itself. On each of the two days we were here, we went for early morning strolls and loved the peacefulness and serenity of this beautiful place.

Thank you to Kevin Kelly, the owner, and to his amazing staff of friendly and helpful people. We recommend that you stay here with your family or special someone and enjoy these luxury cottages with southern charm.

Room Tip: All 10 suites and rooms are in cottages along a beautiful walkway. There are no bad rooms. We like...

Three of us were going last Tuesday when the big ice storm came through The South. We were stuck in New Orleans, roads closed, no rental cars. The policy of the Inn had been stated very clearly: no refunds after fourteen days prior. They were very obliging, however, and said they would credit us in full. They were understanding and very nice about it all. That is a recommendation.

We stayed there recently and I want to review each portion separately.
The Inn is a series of newly built cottages, about 1/4th of a mile from the house & grounds. Don't worry about walking because two of the nicest kids, Josh and Tyler, will come get you in a nice golf cart and ferry you back to the house, restaurants, etc. The room is luxurious, thick towels, soft bedding, a small Keurig, L'Occitane bath products and wonderful furnishings although our bed on a sheet of plywood was a bit hard. The cons for some would be price in that its almost double the next priced plantation nearby (but then too it has 3 restaurants and the most beautiful and extensive grounds I've ever seen which made the cost worth it) and I couldn't stay here for more than a night, as there's no small fridge or safe in the room, and no television either (I'm all for disconnecting but no Guest wifi nor tv nor tiny fridge for drinks? A little much for me for more than a night). Hopefully small issues that will be rectified later. Overall incredibly gorgeous, great service and hopeful to go back soon!
