When arriving at the beach of Alona, go left.
Alona Vida beach resort is one of the last spots on the bustlin strip.
During low tide, there is a lot of beach to enjoy. The sea is pretty and blue. For the best swimming, when leaving the resort turn left. Boats aren't allowed close to the beach there.
Rooms are spatious but simple. Do not stay in the rooms above the diving centre: too close to the Coco Vida Bar.
The swimming pool is small but clean. Staff are calm but friendly enough. Sadly: The German manager can be a pain, because he tends to be unfriendly to the staff and starts playing german music in the bar when he feels like it. The bar is one of the more popular outfits on the strip, lively but makes the resort less interesting for peace seekers.
Luckily the bar personnel are generous and make a decent cocktail.
Hawkers on the beach selling land tours can be trusted. They pick yiu up from the resort. Pay no more than 2000 pesos for a day long private driver. Visit the chocolate Hills/tarsiers center etc.
Wifi is reliable and free. Eating is cheaper and better at several places. Go left when leaving the resort for Genenis restaurant, which cooks mean fresh fish and Thai dishes.More
