Visited on first trip to Maldives.

It is great as the pictures tell you - what pics miss to convey is:
- Quick 25min boat ride from the airport
- Excellent service
- Perfect balance of available facilities and required space for seclusion / rest

Looked really hard for faults considering the price tag and couldn't - its worth it.

Tip - overwater beach villas are your best choice. Try out all the restaurants especially the Thai on island next door.

Dear Kiril P,

Thank you very much for your lovely words. We are very grateful, that you have shared your experience with other travellers here on trip advisor and that our effort has contributed to the success of your well-deserved vacation.

Maldives as a destination itself is brilliant! The warm hospitality of the Maldivian culture, the magnificent views of the Indian Ocean and a luxury environment are a superb combination to relax and enjoy this place of the world.

You have seen, we are 3 resorts, connected to each other by ‘Pontoon’s’ ( Taxi-Boats ), which is unique on the Maldives. This offers a wide range of different dining options for our guests. We will pass on your positive feedback about our ‘Baan Huraa’ Thai restaurant to our culinary team.

On behalf of all the team members we all look forward to having the privilege of welcoming you back once again.

Best regards,

This Hotel is like heaven! You ask for something and you get it at its best. The service and staff are very helpful and courteous at all times. The best part about the hotel is that you can visit the nearby island " Veli" at any time with their boat transfer available every 5 mins. Amazing variety of food. Restaurants can visited in Veli and Dhigu as well. The Aqaufanatics (water sports centre) is very nice place if you are an adventure freak. You should try out the 'SEA BOB'(underwater jet ski). Overall it was great experiance and i should say the ANANATARA group made my stay an unforgettable experience. I would love to visit again in the future to one of ANANTARA's beautiful resorts anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: sunset side rooms are the best. If you are going to Maldives and not staying in a Over water villa...

Dear Sanjay K,

Thank you very much for sharing such an amazing review on trip advisor. We are delighted, that you have enjoyed your holiday on our paradise island.

Rest assured, we will continue with this kind of service, as complete satisfaction is our goal at Anantara Dhigu Maldives, your family resort. The voice of our guests is extremely valuable to us and serves as tool to implement improvements and enhancements throughout the resort and our service culture. We have already shared your comment with our team.

Our water sport center does offer SEA BOB’s for rent, which is indeed a great experience and a lot of fun. We receive many positive feedback's on the SEA Bob’s and also on other watersports, Dive activities and excursions, like Big game fishing, Dolphin discovery, or snorkel trips.

We are looking forward to have the pleasure to welcome you soon again in the Maldives!

This is our second time to Maldives and first time to Anantara so we do have expectations to top our first trip here. Yes, it is a better resort than our last trip and a little more expensive but it's all worth it! First, the nice air conditioned lounge to wait for the boat to arrive after our long flight. Even the airport is bigger and better than 4 years ago! The speedboat ride to the resort was fast and from the time you are greeted at the airport, you do not have to worry about your luggage until you are shown to your room. We booked the sunrise beach villa - huge open air bathroom with super large bath tub (more like a little kiddie pool), with two rain showers. Throughout the whole stay, I could not feel one single bite from sand flies and insects are rarely sighted. They have put a huge effort in keeping the creepy crawlies out. I did not have to use my spray at all! We also stayed in the water bungalow in Veli which is smaller but fantastic access to the water and the fish!
Service is wonderful. Everyone has a nice smile and is very helpful. There were heavy showers during our stay but there were always plenty of large umbrellas, all sorts of raincoats available. The restaurants are well protected against the spell of showers. I was amazed at how fast the waiters and waitresses went to close the folding doors when the storm came. They will just come to chat whenever they have a minute or two to spare making sure we are happy. They do have staff from different language background.
Breakfast is fresh and has a good variety, given everything is flown in. The Thai restaurant is authentic and has the best food in the whole resort (my opinion anyway!). The set menu offers good combination and easy choices. The teppanyaki from the Japanese restuarant was interesting experience as the chef juggles the utensils while he cooks! The buffets from "73 degree" has best home made ice cream. Generally, the cost of dinner range from 65++ to 100++ per person. Great value considering the venue, the service and sometimes live music.
The best part of staying in this resort is the few islands you can explore and the lagoon with plenty of colourful fish and corals to look at. You can hop around to Veli Resort, or to the other 2 islands that are uninhabited by pontoon or simply use the kayak or swim! They do have plenty of beach chair, towels and beach bean bags for chilling out with free cold bottled water and unlimited supply of apples! Of course, there is always a bar available.
You have your life jacket already in your room. You only need to check out your size of fin and snorkel gear from their Dive centers (one on each island) for your entire stay. We didn't join any trip out to chase dolphins or whales due to unpredictable showers. In fact, the best part was to stay under the water bungalow and watch all different types of fish pass by.
I would like to extend our thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff in the restaurants. They set up special table for my husband on his birthday and prepared him a chocolate cake! They also set up a "farewell" table on our last day. Special thanks to Akhil for inviting us to try that heavenly homemade icecream, friendly Cecily who offered us newspaper from their ipads, the room boy Adam who decorated our bedroom with flower petals on my husband's birthday. These are just what set this place apart from other resorts.

Room Tip: The Dhigu Island is great for kids as it has large sand beaches and a wonderful outdoor kiddie playg...

Our private Anantara Airport Lounge is a great place to rest after a long flight, no doubt. Complimentary refreshment soft drinks, free Wi-Fi internet access and Ipad’s to use, while waiting for the boat transfer is a fantastic start on the Maldives! Isn’t it?

We are all really happy that you had such a wonderful stay, and agree with you: Anantara Dhigu is a relaxing paradise! Knowing that we have been able to provide you as our guest a fantastic stay and some memories to take home, is the best thing about our daily work here at Anantara Maldives!

As you have seen, all our luxury Beach Villas and the Over Water Villas are equipped with a lot of nice amenities, such as free Wifi-Internet, outdoor terrace, flat-screen TV with international channels, Minibar as well as coffee makers. And yes, our open air bath rooms are fabulous.

Thank you very much for highlighting this in your review!

I and my family enjoy very much going to Maldives and this was our second time. It is always a great pleasure to relax on the white sand beach and swim in the crystal clear water. To make the stay more enjoyable, good food and good wine are important.

At this hotel, there are three restaurants serving buffet, grill, and Italian cusine. Moreover, there are couple more at Anantara Veli and it is only couple minutes by pontoon. At Veli, there are choices of Thai and Japenese cusines.

There is a wine cellar in the Italian restaurant. The wine cellar is not big but there are some good choices. Moreover, it is possible to have a dinner in the cellar.

This is truly a fantasy island - as many others in the Maldives. The environment and island is truly beautiful and the service is impeccable. The different restaurants all offers high quality food which tastes fabulously good. Compared to a few other islands in the same atoll that I've stayed in, Anantara Dhigu's restaurants stands out as the best so far. The diving excursions managed through the hotel services are also very good managed. There is merely one thing that I experienced didn't reach a five star level: the rooms where a bit well used (particularly the bath rooms) and could use a brush up. Since the standard of the bungalow's is a big deal on such a resort, especially given the thought you're going to spend some time in it on a romantic vacation, the total experience is 4 out of five. But then the finances comes in play: and suddenly this is the place to marvel in!

Dear swrs24,

We are more than happy, that you have enjoyed your stay at Anantara Dhigu and all our efforts have contributed to the success of your well-deserved holiday ‘on our fantasy island’.

We are extremely grateful that you took time out from your schedule to share this wonderful feedback. The voice of our guests is extremely valuable to us and serves as tool to implement improvements and enhancements throughout the resort and our service culture.

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the condition of the rooms, we are permanently doing enhancement works and technical upgrades in all our guest rooms and public areas.

Our ‘Preventive Maintenance Program’ is a great sample for this ongoing project, which is a repetitive task throughout the year since the climatic conditions on our tropical island make this exercise inevitable. Thank you so much, for highlighting this in your review.

On behalf of all the team members we look forward to having the privilege of welcoming you back once again.

We spent there 5 wonderful days after staying in Dubai. We loved everything about this hotel, staff makes you feel great, they have high service standards.
I could describe so many experiences in this hotel, but I would say you have to live it!!
The sunset overwater bungalow is really worth it.
I am a Sunset lover and one of the best experiences of my life was to watch the sunset lying in that hammock in the middle of the sea...you can see the sky in a different perspective...wow, I need to go back!
I cryied when I left, imagine all the staff together saying good bye to the guests at the boat...they really care to make you have a wonderful time.

Room Tip: Sunset overwater bungalow have the best views!!

We had a superb 10 day stay over the Easter holiday.

Kids Club
The kids' club had an hourly program for small kids mostly under 8 yos. The Easter program with egg hunting, egg decoration was fantastic. so was the treasure hunting on a deserted island. What I really like about the kids club is that they don't just put kids in front of the TV or play some board games, they organize some really fun games like a really camp you pay to send your kids to. Older kids can't be bothered to attend, since it is mainly for the small ones. We parents had a very relaxing time.

Dining
When you book a 10+ day stay, you can even take advantage of the dine around (kids dine for free) in all their 6 restaurants across 3 properties, including the one on Naladhu. They are all charming and high quality, I am not very impressed with the buffet breakfast and buffet dinner restaurant. But the a-la-carte ones were all very good. Main dishes are about $25-40 plus tax and service and beverage, so your typical NYC London price in case you decide not to purchase the half board. It is definitely a good deal to take the HB when you have small kids (under 6) with you ( they can also order from the main menu without paying), but if you are not a big eater, maybe you can save some money just pay as you go.

Beach
The sunrise side is calmer than the sunset side, so ideal for families with small kids. The views all around are great. The only patch with some tropical fish for snorkeling is on the sunrise side in front of room 34-39. If you want to be able to snorkel right outside your front beach, this is not the resort. But for us, we had seen the beautiful fishes on our previous trips and our kids are too small to do extensive snorkeling, it didn't bother us not to have house reefs close by. You can always book a snorkeling trip to the reefs. What's really great about the Maldives is that you and your kids are really safe. We never really have to lock our door and our kids could play on the beach alone for a while without us having to worry about weird strangers, deep water or big waves.

Staff and Management
The kindness of the staff and management is what makes your stay really enjoyable. We had early arrival and late departure, When our in laws arrived early, Patrick the resort manager arranged a temporary guest room for them to rest. When we had our late departure, we were allowed to have a late check out. We understand it was not easy to arrange this for us especially during the high holiday season when the resort was fully booked and we really appreciate the extra effort from the management. When you book one of Anantara's 3 properties (Dhigu, Naladhu, Veli), you can go and have a walk and a meal on any of the three islands. So this leaves you a bit more to explore during your long stay. By the way, Dhigu is mainly for families with kids, Veli for couples and Naladhu if you prefer not to be seen.

Anantara Dhigu, a family friendly resort with a kids club is the ideal destination for families and for couples, therefor we are offering a wide range of leisure and watersport activities, while guests looking for peace and tranquility are enjoying our Spa treatments, Yoga sessions and other relaxing activities.
