“Country House Hotel and Conference Centre”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

We spent 2 nights at Sedgebrook Hall at Chapel Brampton on the outskirts of Northampton set in beautiful countryside. This is one of the Principal Hayley group of hotels. The hotel and conference facility is set in lovely gardens along a long driveway. it obviously caters for the conference/business community but we found it family friendly. The welcome at reception was good with friendly staff only too willing to make the stay pleasurable. The rooms were well decorated and clean and nicely furnished. We had TV and coffee/tea making facilities. The ensuite was well appointed with shampoo, shower gels and lovely clean white towels. Our only minor complaint was that it can be a long walk to your room and if on the upper floor no lift available. We were offered luggage assistance when booking in but I turned it down but perhaps if you are not able or a senior you might like to take advantage of help. We were attending a wedding at nearby Holdenbury House and this was a really convenient place to stay. All services are available from meals (lunch/dinner and breakfast) in the Tempura Restaurant to a bar with large screen TV and comfortable seating, pool and snooker. There is an indoor swimming pool and sauna. It is also convenient to visit places such as Althorp House (10 minutes away) and Silverstone (1/2 hour). We had ordered a cot for my grandson and that had been put in place prior to our arrival - (a newish Mothercare Travel Cot). Breakfast was in the Tempura restaurant , buffet style with lots of choice from fruit, croissants and full English all well cooked freshly. There was plenty of staff about to help and clear tables. Free newspapers were available each morning. Overall we had a great stay enjoying the wonderful countryside surrounding the hotel.

Stayed overnight for a golf tournament near by, if there was a Premiere Inn closer would have stayed there. This is a poor version of a PI. Probably was a lovely old house at one time. Rooms very dated, TV in our room was pathetic. Main block uninteresting. Staff freindly enough and breakfast good but no mushrooms! Tinned fruit but at least there was some. Wedding on and our son was right in the middle of all the guests rooms and was kept awake until 2am. Not much sound proofing in rooms. Bathrooms tired and shower in our room 102 weak. Applaud their energy saving measures though. Lovely entrance very pretty area but probably much nicer places to stay nearby. Very reasonably priced however and all we wanted was a room for a night close to the venue but as I said if there had been a PI closer they are much better than this hotel. We paid £160 for 2 rooms B&B.

Dear DisneyNorwich_UK

I appreciate you taking the time to give us a review of your stay, we are all sorry that you didn’t feel we are as good as the hotels by the motorway.

We are some what difference as we have difference facilities. An in house restaurant 24 hour reception, a bar, a pool, a gym, tennis courts etc and a team to support you during your stay.

I am sorry your son was woken up by the wedding party at 2.00am in the morning, The Team and I always encourage our guest `s to respect other they are sleeping

I am now going to look at new signage for the bedroom corridors, encouraging guest’s to appreciate that others are sleeping, also mushrooms are back on the breakfast menu.

I have forward you comments about the water pressure to the company that services our system and am waiting for there feedback.

When your playing golf locally again please let us know and I would be delight to offer you an upgrade to one of our second floor rooms.

Thanks once again for your comments they do make a difference

Kind regards

Location.
A gorgeous drive pulls you into the hotel car park which is a small walk away from reception (disabled visitors be warned that it's up a slight hill then a large ramp to get into reception - the rooms are then way back down in the car park area again).

I actually was disappointed that all of the general and superior rooms were in the cheap looking student block in the car park area with one sign pointing to rooms numbers x-y this way with no other directions leaving us to walk miles around three blocks until we found our room (right at the top by the reception end ironically!) there are no lifts to the top floors but i manage up the three flights as we were rushing to get to my sister-in-laws wedding.

Once in our superior room i was again disappointed: it was tiny!! It had a desk, a pathetic hairdryer, trouser press, iron/board, double bed (not king!) and a small armchair and table.

We were starving after a long drive and had 25 minutes to get ready for the wedding: we ordered room service. No menu available in the room i called reception. Eventually we placed our order for two sandwiches - turkey and prawn (no egg or vege option except cheese!) it was delivered swiftly and was ok, but when we checked out the next day it had cost us £20!!! (no drinks, just manky triangular sandwiches with fries that you had to have; no option to have crisps or salad instead!)

The wedding was a triumph, food was ok, rooms were dressed nice. Drinks were priced well actually, the same as a pub. Nice location for photos and lots of space for guests to sit whilsts photos take place.

Breakfast.
Was chaotic. A nightmare. There had been two weddings and all were fighting for seats and food, the staff could not cope. There was no juice, no beans, no bacon, no milk, no glasses etc. we barely saw any staff during this busy time; management need to sort themselves out!!

We did nkt use the pool or jacuzzi area.

I would not return at all, because i like luxury when staying in the country and this just wasn't relaxing at all.

All in all an ok trip but an amazing wedding. That's thanks to the people and family of the wedding party and no thanks to the hotel.

First class service, good value for money, facilities very good, peaceful location, and overall a very well run and friendly hotel and conference center. Would have no hesitation in booking and recommending Sedgebrook Hall to work colleagues, friends and family.

Room Tip: No issues what so ever with my room

Stayed at Sedgebrook Hall for a two day company conference, the staff were extremely pleasant from check in to check out. The facilities were great and the food was superb. The grounds were first class and well maintained. I would certainly return and would recommend to anyone.

Stopped for one night for a freinds wedding which went very well and the food(both meal and buffet was superb)
Now for the bad points. The room we stopped in (101)was very small and dated. The bed was uncomfortable and the tv looked like it was as old as the ark.
Breakfast was poor, tough bacon and undercooked sausages,a limited selection of fruit and a long queue at the toaster. On checking out reception staff said rooms were being refurbed but they hadn't got round to the ground floor yet. So if you are coming here ask for a room above the ground floor.

Stayed at Sedgebrook Hall when my car broke down in Northampton. Looked at staying in Northampton centre (don't) but this hotel was recommended to me.

Overall the room was OK with plenty of hot water and good choice of TV channels. Had dinner in the restaurant which was good although better selection of main courses would be an improvement. Breakfast was a buffet which was fine.

Very surprised when I checked out that they charge £2.50 if you use a credit card. Have not come across this for a long time.....not good !!

Room Tip: Would go for 1st floor room
