“Fantastic Food”
Reviewed 31 August 2008

We have just returned from Overstone Park this was our second visit, we went with a party of six, and stayed two nights Friday and Saturday.
The standard Hotel rooms are pretty small and basic but clean and pleasant enough. the guys had one game of golf and the girls had a lazy time in the pool /sauna area.

The Saturday evening we decided to book a table in the restuarant (having experienced a very good breakfast that morning)

The meal was of a quality beyond all our expectations, and all of us are regular restuarant diners. We all agreed that the standard of the meal and service provided was exceptional.and good value

We have already booked our return for next year

Booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1, not because it was that bad but had to get back early.
We stayed in an executive room which was supposed to be bigger than standard, certainly that must have been tiny!
The room above was a suite with balcony overlooking the golf course with somewhere to sit if the weather is nice, (which it was) would go for that next time.
Check in was quick and straight forward but this isn't a standard hotel more like a motel with the rooms situated in groups of 4 lodge type buildings.
One plus was the swimming pool and sauna/steam room they give you a towel!
Going back to the roon it was rather on the small side and my wife didn't think it was particularly clean, the TV didn't get BBC 1 as I could see the aerial socket was pulled out of the wall, I'm sure this didn't help the reception!
Breakfat, H'mmm not too good, buffet style but they cooked the eggs to order, bacon looked like it was microwaved not good!
I would stay there again- only If I had to!

My husband and I stayed at Overstone Park for the Silverstone Grand Prix weekend. First impressions were a very attractive picturesque setting with ample parking. Check-in was quick and easy and we were given directions for our rooms which was on the second floor of the building to which there is no lift, also we were issued with a large bottle of water due to the tap water problems in the Northampton area at the moment. We had booked a standard room as this was all that was available over this very busy time, the room was rather small but it was clean and tidy, it also had a well stocked refreshments tray complete with kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits!! It also had a fruit bowl (which was a nice touch) and a personalised F1 chocolate bar!!
The bathroom was small also and the shower was one of the plastic sealed unit types that I have previously only seen in a static caravan, this was rather odd but still adequate for our needs. (there was no bath).
We didn't use any of the leisure facilities whilst we were there as we were getting up early to go to the race track.
We booked to have dinner in the restaurant both nights and later in the evening the restaurant did get quite busy so i would recommend this. The food that we had in the restaurant was outstanding!! I would return to this hotel just for a meal in the restaurant! I can highly recommend the goat's cheese starter and my husband had the steak both nights as it was so good, the prices were moderatly expensive but it was well worth it so we didn't mind and the rioja was lovely! The restaurant staff were very friendly as well and i'd especially like to mention the scottish lad who served us as he was attentive and chatty without being 'in your face'.
All in all we enjoyed our time at overstone park - if i was going there for a relaxing or romantic break (which i would) i would definately book a better room type and i would hope this would include a slightly more comfortable bed as i found the one in our room very soft and unsupportive and the pillows were not much better!

i stopped at the overstone park resort for a weekend break with my partner and daughter as was in northampton for a family reunion.
we booked an executive room which was outstanding and breakfast and evening meals included and also with room was a balcony over looking the golf course.
everything was running smoothly until about 2 am when suddenly the room was invaded by a swarm off cluster flies and i am talking in numbers off 200 flies!!
management was on scene instantly and were so extremely helpfull and offered us another room instantly due to nature off problem and time scale.... but when saw other room it was small and had no ventilation at all and was not fair on my 6 month old daughter.
next day i went to manager who had already dealt with the issue and had moved us to a house lodge in complex for same price and with a day for free and complimentery wine.
so as for this hotel i will say staff there are exceptionally helpfull managers will do all they can to help food is amazing and despite that problem i would most definately stay there again with out a doubt

Overstone Park is situated in the countryside near Northampton.
This is a good place to go for a short break of 1 or 2 nights. The hotel has good leisure facilities (golf, gym, aerobics classes, pool, spa) and the small town of Northampton is worth a visit.
Downside is the building is rather ugly and the room (executive double) a bit small and plain. Probably not what you'd want for a romantic break. Balcony door wouldn't open and this wasn't sorted out despite a request being made.
Restaurant overpriced and not very welcoming. There are better places to eat in the local area. Cooked breakfast was up to scratch though. Most staff were helpful and friendly.
