“Great breakfast, fun atmosphere ”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

This place is small on space but big on great food and fun details. The motif is a mix of leather and dark woods with raw iron beams and peeling plaster. It may sound odd but it it really well done. The menu is a delightful southern offering; the boudin ball biscuits were a wonderful appetizer. Country fried steak and chicken and waffles were done with a modern twist. This place is a must if you are in the area and are in the mood for breakfast.

“the french press restaurant”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

this is a lovely place to eat breakfast, brunch or lunch. not sure if they do regular dinner but i do know they do a very special menu and dinner from time to time. we were not able to go but saw a menu from a previous one and it sounded wonderful. we ate there two days in a row for late breakfast. it's one of those places downtown where the walls are cleaned bare brick and the windows tall and wrought iron french quarter style. it is filled with locals and visitors alike. it is loud and yet fun and we carried on a conversation without too much trouble! everyone was happy, including the staff, so it is a pleasant way to begin your day. the menu has a good selection of both breakfast and lunch items with an emphasis on both freshness and taste. presentation is pretty too. you can also have a mimosa as well as great tea. we only ate breakfast food but watching the lunch food go by was quite tempting. if you are near, you should not miss this place. but beware of how busy it is nearer lunch. it is not a big area so timing might be a good idea.

“Little Gem on the Square”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Lovely little restaurant that is easy to pass by just across the Square in downtown Lafayette. Great variety of unique entrees and sandwiches. Very nice atmosphere without being stuffy, knowledgeable wait staff and prompt service. Our group of four each enjoyed something different, although we shared an appetizer for the table. We would certainly recommend it for lunch or dinner, especially for something unique and different from the fried seafood so often associated with the local cuisine.

“The very essence of Louisiana.”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Come to Lafayette for the French Press. The best food ever in America. These people understand cooking. And for what we had, all perfect three courses, plus a Cal SVB, $88 was ridiculous. Grace our waitress was informed, helpful and charming. A political science student she may yet become President.

The walls and ceiling are distressed as this is the old print works of a local newspaper. The daily urgency is still evident. Spread the news.

“Tha Cajun Eggs Benedict are worth the wait!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

True, we also waited quite long. But this was a really special breakfast, obviously cooked from scratch and the eggs perfectly poached.
So, if you are ready for something hearty, spicy, just delicious, go for it!
You won't need to eat the whole day ;-)
