Best cajun food I have ever eaten, and excellent beer too. Great wait staff, and wonderful service. Could not have been happier.

“Great food at the Blue Dog”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Located on in the heart of the older business district, the Blue Dog Café is a favorite for locals and travelers alike. The menu has a great selection of popular Cajun dishes that represent well the great food found in south Louisiana. Enough variety that everyone can find something to enjoy. If you can't decide, just pick anyone, you'll be back!

“Great Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Stopped by on the way home from Baton Rouge to TX. Decided on this place based on Trip Advisor Reviews. Cool place with a live band. Went during Brunch on a Sunday. A varitey of food choices in the Brunch. Could not order from the Menu since it was Brunch. Liked the Blue Dog theme in all the pictures...especially the vertical American Flag with the Blue Dog in front. That should be the T-shirt that you sell...it will sell a lot more than the one you have. Would go back if ever in Lafayette again.

“tourist place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

We stopped here on a Sunday for brunch while being in the area. The food it good like most local restaurants in Lafayette. I do feel that it is over priced for what they had & mostly just a tourist attraction. Not saying it is not nice. If you are from out of town, you may enjoy it. Being from New Orleans, found the food way too spicy. We do not cook cajun food that spicy in New Orleans so was little disappointed that could not eat half of it. Don't think I would be back or recommend. I enjoy spicy foods but this was way overdone in my opinion. Seems to be how they cook in this area, not your typical New Orleans cooking which is what I was hoping for. Not sure if other times are better but for date/couple, found it to be extremely noisy as well but then again, like I mentioned, we went on Sunday brunch so that was to be expected.

“Great food and atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

Ate dinner here last night and loved it! There was a 30-minute wait around 7 PM but we found 2 open chairs at the bar and sat down immediately. We started with the corn and crab bisque. It was creamy and just the right amount of spicy. For dinner we had the Whiskey Bay Flounder and the blackened catfish. Both were excellent. I asked to substitute sautéed spinach for rice pilaf - no problem. Service was outstanding and the noise level was low enough to have a conversation even though the restaurant was quite full and there was a live jazz band playing in the bar area.
