Let me just say that Hotel Cazan was perfect for our needs when visiting Fred's Lounge on a Saturday morning. Though saying that....
PROS: Location. Loved that Fred's lounge was across the street. Right in the center of town where we met the nicest of people. Coffee shop next door opens at 7 for breakfast.....that's a whole other review.
Bart showed us a choice of rooms, one with a window, one without. Lighting not a problem, had a nice table lamp as well as overhead light.
Check out time was not written in stone.
Fridge in room.
Room and bathroom both very clean.
CONS: Minor- No place to hang anything.
No cups for water etc
No hairdryer in bathroom or in hotel...ended up going to Family Dollar for one(!) FYI there is shampoo and a bar of soap in bathroom.
Hole in sheet size of a nickel. Though rest of bedding looked quite new.

That was a fair review, and thank you. Since you were here, we are under new ownership/management. We are still squeaky clean, but with lots of new linens and towels, and plenty of pillows. We even offer body pillows! Now we use full sized bars of Zest, which people love. In the morning we offer complementary hot coffee, and the cafe is still open a couple of doors down. We have the cups, and also hairdryers, and irons with ironing boards. Guest requests are a priority for us, and we go out of our way to meet special requests. Come back soon.

rehab done a few years back and the place is immaculate. our room was 1 full bed only and was great. small but really clean and appointed simply. bathroom was terrific. weird thing is that the room did not have a chair so maybe bring something with you--- the bed had a foot board so it was impossible to sit on the end of the bed. fred's is across the street and a meat market called t-boys 5 minutes away that had excellent boudin and beef tasso that was even better. going back soon.

I have always wanted to go to the Famous Fred's Lounge and noticed the Cazan was what they suggested for lodging. I called them and made a reservation. Bart the owner/manager treated us like family. The rooms were very clean and remodeled. The place is actually a piece of history. The building is over a hundred years old. The hotel also has a bar with live bands. Bart himself sang a song and to be honest is one of the most gifted singers we listened to on this trip. This place is very reasonable priced and is a must stay place for any Fed's Lounge visit!!!!

Thanks so much! Fully renovated but keeping the historic features, this hotel has a reputation for being quaint, clean, and charming... and possibly haunted. With new management, we are building on the past successes and memories. Now we have more art and photos, and there is a wedding chapel in the building, which helps with our destination weddings. ( so does our terrific space for a wedding reception, and a honeymoon suite for the bride and groom ) Hot complementary coffee will get you ready for all the entertainment and fun nearby, so come back soon.

The Cazan was very accommodating for our large group of family and friends. The bar was closed for our private party which they really went out of their way to make it a special event. I highly recommend calling Bart for your special event. The rooms were well kept and neat.

Nice welcome. The room is very clean and the hotel is in the center of the town close by Fred's lounge. Very nice furniture, but no reading lights. But had the sun going down from the room. A place to recommend.

Thanks! We are better than before, nicely lit and squeaky clean. From the full bars of Zest soap to the complementary water in the fridge in your room, you will feel taken care of. Now our walls have art, our rooms have lamps, and our people are excited about making your guest experience the very best, and your Mamou memories the warmest.

Small room with no chair, no soap, no cups or glasses and a 12" tv. But it is very clean and has a friendly manager who goes out of his way to assist. Best thing is it is very close to Fred's Lounge and other Cajub bars with music. Good coffee shop next door. Fun for one night of heavy partying in this unique little town

You are so right about Mamou being a little unique town, and we are a boutique hotel right in the center of the Historic District. We have evolved since you were here. Now we have all the cups you could want, chairs in every room, and flat screen TVs with Netflix. Hot
coffee is available all day, and we are close to a cute cafe a couple of doors down. Our block still has plenty of live music. The Mamou Cajun Music Festival is September 16th and 17th, 2016.

Two friends and I stayed here and loved the place. It's right across the street from Fred's, so it's perfectly located for the Saturday morning throwdown. It has been recently remodeled and has very comfortable and nice-looking rooms. The only caveat is that the rooms are rather dark. There were no lamps in either of the rooms we booked - only a moderately bright overhead light. This makes reading in bed impossible unless you have a Kindle. At least I could read in the morning by the window - one of us had an interior room with no window. Those rooms would be great for someone who wants to sleep late although a little on the small side - our outside room was considerable larger. Another little oddity is that there was no place to hang clothes. It didn't affect us, we were living out of our bags, but odd nonetheless. The manager met us in the bar upon our late arrival and took good care of us - very friendly. The rates are very affordable, especially for a newly appointed and attractive room - I was surprised. Also, the downstairs bar had a wonderful cajun band Saturday at noon. The place was full with what appeared to be folks from the surrounding area - like a subdued version of Fred's When I go back to Mamou, I'll definitely book this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the outside corner room - It has 3 windows and a king bed. It was #11 or #12

Thank you for writing this review. As we are under new management, we now have space to hang clothes, and all the rooms have more conducive lighting. Art and photos leaven the atmosphere, and we are often described as quaint, cozy and cute. A boutique hotel, we are able to excel in catering to our guests. Don't take my word for that~ please come back soon!
