We got a great deal from Travelzoo for this place, but even without the deal-we will be back. This resort is lovely. The view from the back social area over the golf course and to the water is delightful, especially at sunset. Be sure to walk uphill on the cart trail by the 18th green to see the beauiful view over the water. The resort allows you to walk or run on the golf cart path early in the morning or late in the evening when you won't be in the way of the golfers and it is wonderful. We saw rabbits, raccoons and deer as we walked this beautiful course. There are also biking/hiking trails nearby, but they had not been maintained and were full of blackberry brambles. We were told that they would be cleaned out for the fall-not many people ride/hike during the summer because of the heat.
We just had a regular room on our package and I have to say that I do not think that it is worth it to pay the quoted $40.00 extra for a balcony or patio. They are small and some of them actually face the parking lot. There are plenty of common areas where you can sit in rocking chairs with a glass of wine and enjoy the view for free. Our room was just fine, and very large with 2 queens, a refrigerator for use, nice TV, desk, etc. Good air conditioning with white noise!
We found the food at the resort to be very good. While we were there we had grilled salmon and a grilled portabella mushroom platter that were both excellent and all entrees include a nice salad bar, a starch and vegetables. The rolls are served with honey butter and regular butter, hot out of the oven and just wonderful. The bread pudding is made by a local woman and is delicious! The resort had a barbeque one day with brisket, hot dogs, chicken, hamburgers, potato salad, corn, beans, bread, bread pudding and tea all for $13.00 per person. The next night my son and husband both had a steak and said it was perfectly cooked. I had red snapper that was a little tough and overly spicy, but I easily filled up on the sides. We went outside for smores both nights-compliments of the resort-very nice. fThe only negative is the only house wine they serve is Robert Mondavi-it would be nice to have some better options.
The breakfast buffet was very good with eggs, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, juices etc.
The pool area is both inside and outside. There is a hot tub and sauna-very nice. There is also a spa which I did not use. The fitness room needs new equipment-it was in bad shape and some was broken.
The staff here is really great, especially the manager, the housekeeping staff and the food service staff. Oh, and my husband said he had the best frozen pina colada of his life at the bar.
This is a great place-we will be back in the fall when the trails are clean!
