Owners were very informative. I was there for the Dave Robicheaux Hometown Literary Festival and this is where author James Lee Burke still has connections so you can buy signed first editions of his books. Owner is friends with JLB so he has lots of store is to tell. Please support this local store.
WOW. We went to New Iberia to see the James Lee Burke sites, and ended up at Books Along the Teche. We could never have anticipated the help the owners gave us...everything Burke. Where his house is, where he'd written, the places in his books and their history, what he was doing now, the Dave Robicheaux Festival, information about his past, a bit about his family, what he's like. On and on. Fortunately it was early and they weren't busy, so they took almost an hour talking to us, responding to our questions, adding insights... whatever they could tell us they were happy to share.
That one stop was the highlight of our stay in New Iberia, and gave us what we needed to see all the places in Burke's books. Wonderful.
This is one of the few independent book retailers left. The people that own it are great, so we try to buy all our kids reading assignments from them instead of the big box stores. They don't have a huge inventory but can order anything and usually have it for you in a day or two
We went to this bookstore because we are fans of the James Lee Burke books. This where he launches any of his new books. The owner of the book store was very pleasant and informative. Obviously accustomed to people just dropping in to see the store. If I wanted first editions of any of his books I would contact her.
