We had a very lovely evening at the restaurant. After hearing from fellow travelers, we were glad we skipped the meager ghost tour and instead enjoyed the house and grounds from the outside before our meal. We each enjoyed the food we ordered although it was not as spicy as you would expect in that area, perhaps for the international guests? The mahi-mahi was fabulous!

The Carriage House Restaurant at the Myrtles Plantation looked attractive but was a disappointment at best. Even though only a few other customers were present when we arrived, we waited over an hour for a simple order—hamburgers.

When they finally arrived they were not eatable. They were made largely of bread and may have contained some other filler besides meat, and they tasted like cardboard. When I complained to the lady who appeared to be in charge, she was defensive and acted as if any idiot should know that hamburgers contain a lot of bread, and said if I wanted pure meat I should have ordered steak. Another customer sent her food back, but I did not hear what she said about it.

The waiter was very nice plus he tried to give us a free dessert as an apology but by then we just wanted our check. We had to wait so long for the check that we left our table and went to the front of the restaurant so they’d get the point.

The much more casual looking Magnolia Café served great food quickly at a far lower price.

This was the most amazing food we had ever eaten. True, authentic southern cuisine. be ready to a little extra, but it is totally worth it!

We decided to eat out while on our visit and decided to go to the Myrtles. This is an over priced and over rated experience. The waiter was excellent but it was almost a hundred dollars for just two of us to eat. We will grill at our cottage at another plantation from here on..

My wife & I had dinner here after a long day of sightseeing. The Carriage House is part of the plantation and small but neat. The food was good but not exceptional and the price was a bit on the high side. We had a oyster, shrimp and cheese appetizer (very good) and their bar-b-que shrimp dinners (fair). I'm not sure we would return for dinner.
