“Cozy Cottage”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Stepping into the front of Cromwell was like stepping back in time. The original structure remains and you can sit by the fire with a drink. The modern seating area is a nice contemporary update. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We went with a large group and were able to try various appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Definitely try the House Tasting Platter so you get a little bit of everything. I was served a nicely portion pork belly and for dessert we tried the vanilla and peach creme brulee. Overall it was a nice experience, though the scallops and mashed potatoes could use some work.

“A better place to eat.”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Staff trained. Service good. Food pricey and just ok, nothing fabulous, Gordon Ramsey would be disappointed

“Tasty food in a cozy setting”
Reviewed 15 September 2013 via mobile

Today, we enjoyed lunch at the Cromwell Cottage. We picked it as a meeting place for a reunion between my wife and an old high school friend from back home in Alabama. They had not seen each other in 30 years. The pub and restaurant are convenient located near major motorways and highways. It has a lot of character and the interior has been beautifully designed. It provides for a homey feel and we initially waited in the pub for the other couple to arrive. The restaurant was fully booked and it is advisable to make reservations prior to going. Once our friends arrived, we moved over into the restaurant where we received prompt and friendly service. The food was delicious (mine was turkey roast with veggies, gravy and Yorkshire pudding) and everybody enjoyed. We did not consume any alcohol, but had capuccinos for desert. We paid GBP75.00 for all four meals and the drinks. Great place, lovely atmosphere and definitely recommend it.

“Contemporary and Good”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Met up with some old friends on a Monday evening. We enjoyed the early part of the evening outside and ate at about 9pm at an inside table. Very efficient service and the food was good. Great value for money, too.

“Absolutely horrendous”
Reviewed 8 September 2013 via mobile

For weeks I had tried to book a table for Sunday lunch at the Cromwell cottage and took that as a good sign that we waited for 3 weeks and luckily it fell on my birthday, sadly it was the most awful meal I've ever eaten.
When we arrived and were seated it took 25 minutes for anyone to even come and take our order, we were offered bread to start, it wasn't even fully cooked as it was doughy which everyone knows is not good to eat part raw dough.
I ordered the duck starter, I'm sure there was not duck in that starter, it was mushed up soviet did not even resemble pieces of meat and looked like the filling of a pork pie and in no way resembled the taste of duck.
The main, we ordered a platter of roast meat, I could of got better if I had eaten at a hungry horse pub, the sausage was so cold it must have been cooked ages ago, and the vegetables were cold, the cauliflower cheese I'm sure was just microwaved to heat it because there was no way it was a newly cooked one or the first should have come out like that. When I told the waitress it was cold she said it would be replaced, so this time the meat on the plate had been put on the grill where you would normally cook a steak, it had the lines across the meat and tasted of burnt steak, I've never tasted anything so disgusting, the bottom of the roast potatoes were so black they couldn't be cut.
Will never ever return there it was so awful, and that really spoilt our Sunday meal. Will never recommend this place to anyone and will tell people to stay away
