“Lovely place to eat”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

You always get a warm welcome when you eat here and the staff are very attentive and helpful. lovely atmosphere, especially when there is a log fire burning. The setting is a lovely mix of modern and olde worlde.

We had the roast dinners which we all enjoyed... Lovely cauliflower cheese and fresh vegetables with it. Only disappointment was the roast potatoes, but I think that was just the time of the year. Children's meals are good and the staff are very attentive to children.

There is a varied menu which is changed fairly regularly.

Would definitely recommend.

“"Not as good as it used to be"”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Went here my birthday lunch on 24th March and were dissapointed. We have been going to this place for over three years now and have noticed a decline in food quality over that period. It is still a great place to visit, but the standard of food quality has diminished from three years ago. Our lunch was not plentifull or tasty at all and was poorly presented. The personal hygene of the waitress was not plesent either, something you would not expect from someone in this business.I would suggest a little more attention to detail and presentation would be a good place to start. We have not eaten here in the evening so can not comment on this, although others seem to give positive comments.

“Fantastic Meal”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

This is a wonderful pub/restaurant. We had a meal on a Saturday evening and the place was jam packed but still the service was second to none. The food was delicious (would definitely recommend the shared platter to start which was much bigger than we expected). The place has a great atmosphere too. We had a lovely evening there. Would most definitely go back again and again.

“Another good birthday dinner”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Met friends here last night to celebrate my birthday. A very friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar. We had drinks in the bar first before we were invited to our table. Great service and very tasty food. Could not fault anything. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and made you feel very relaxed as nothing appeared too much trouble. We booked as there were 5 of us which I would recommend as it was busy in there which is a really good sign for a Tuesday night. Lovely surroundings with lots of tasteful wood tables and low beams at the entrance so beware if you are over 5'5.. but once inside this is not a problem. Been there in the winter too and they have lovely open fire places. Very good wine and cocktail selection which you can either have a very expensive wine or one at a standard price but still good quality. We will definitely go back. Thank you Cromwell Cottage for a lovely evening.

“Excellent”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

We arrived around 9.30pm and hadn't booked but were seated promptly. Service was excellent, food was excellent and the staff were very nice. We were the last to leave (11.45) however the staff didn't push us to go. All in all an absolutely great meal with great company!
