Description: Experience Southern Louisiana cooking at its finest here at Southside Cafe where you'll find a casual, family owned establishment that dishes out delicious food and drink. We love to cook like we had it when we grew up, just like our mom & dad taught us. Stop on in for a traditional PoBoy sandwich on French bread - always a Louisiana staple. Some of everyone's other favorite things here are the Peacemaker Sandwich, Yellow Fin Tuna, and the Build Your Own Burger. Have it your way at Southside Cafe, starting with your choice of meat, bun, toppings, and condiments. Looking for a new place to get brunch? We serve it all day long on Sunday. Come on down for Nawlins classics as well as Southside originals. It's always a good time at Southside Cafe, the taps are always flowing and the beer is always cold. Happy hour is Monday - Friday from 3pm to 7pm and all day on Sunday! Order your favorite drink with your best friends or stay around for a while and meet some new ones. We have plenty of room for large gatherings, and many folks come out for banquets, anniversaries, birthdays, and many other occasions. We offer a whole range of catering options for your event, so feel free to see how we can help make your event a success. What are you waiting for? Get the best meals, drinks, and all around Louisiana experience here at Southside Cafe in Slidell.

We had some real good gumbo followed by terrific soft shelled crabs and great French fries..from a previous visit we had really really good Reuben sandwiches..we sometimes forget to head that way to eat but we need to jog our memory more as this place is consistently very good.

While on a swamp tour, we asked our very Cajun captain, "where do the locals eat?". We told him we would like some real, southern cookin. He told us the best place in town was Southside Café. As soon as we walked in, we could tell we were exactly where we wanted to be. The friendly local atmosphere was very inviting. There were many menu selections to choose from including southern dishes such as crawfish, gumbo, catfish, country fried steak and many other dishes. They also serve salads, sandwiches, burgers. The portions are large but the prices are not. They also have a buffalo sauce that ranges from a 1 to 5 in heat. Most people opt for the 3, I however like very hot so I took the 5. It was very hot, but not the hottest I have had, but it did have a good taste. If you are looking for an authentic southern restaurant popular with locals and unknown by most tourist, then this restaurant is for you.

You know those places where you walk in and you can see this is the local gathering spot. Well this is one of those places. A feel good place where friends gather to talk about their day, week, the big fish - well you catch my drift. Just a couple other things about the atmosphere, if you are a military fan you may like to roam around the place. The only downside of this place is the acoustics, when the place is packed it is noisy.
Now for the food. Good variety on the menu - we like the chef salad - with killer blue cheese dressing, speg w. meatballs (huge) and roast beef po'boys. Wed. is bike night and Thurs/Sat are steak nights.

Great place for Veterans, for Family, for Saints Fans, WHO DAT! Sometimes too much fat on the steaks, but little else to complain about. EXCEPT FOR THE NOISE IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU at busy times. And forget that back room, the noise level will make you nauseous. Greta sandwiches, great mixed drinks, great service.

This restaurant has a huge menu ! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and offers catering services.

The food has always been great and the portions huge !

The bar area is large ( 3 sided) and a great place to enjoy your food as well as your cocktail. The seats are comfortable and at the right height.

This restaurant is spotless and the staff are very friendly.

Plenty of parking.
