We stayed here as part of our mini trip to Scotland. What a find! James, our host, could not have been more helpful and informative. The house is run by him, but he does not 'live in'. He offers a total 'run of the house' which does make your stay more relaxing. Excellent furnishings, fantastic bathroom and robes, comfortable beds and a very quiet, peaceful location. Fantastic all round. Breakfast was enormous - cereals, pastries, fruits, juices, cooked bacon, eggs, Scottish square sausage, haggis, etc. Whatever you wanted was no trouble. Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We had the double room at the front of the house. Very quiet and tastefully furnished.

We stayed at Parkhead House with friends on our way home from a holiday in the Highlands. It's an excellent location on the Hopetoun Estate only a short distance from South Queensferry and a bus into Edinburgh. James Gourlay is an exceptional host and the atmosphere so relaxing. The house is spacious and period yet with a boutique-like décor. We stayed B&B but were also offered the use of the kitchen, laundry, lounge and garden - perfect for inviting friends back for a night cap. There is a gate to the deer park adjacent to the house and deer aplenty with superb views of the Firth of Forth and Hopetoun House. The estate has a garden centre and farm shop, the latter providing many of the breakfast items - and breakfast is a culinary triumph! Well done Angela and James, you've created a unique experience. Thank you.

Room Tip: We stayed in Skye bedroom to the right at the top of the stairs with the roll top bath and rain sho...

Just back from an amazing week at Parkhead House. We took some nights as B and B and then took the whole house when the family arrived. I've never known anything like it before - what a great combination. James, the owner was exceptionally hospitable and helpful - he even let us have a little party one evening! The rooms are just beautiful and the house is very large - with the most stunning views all around. We've stayed at hundreds of places around the country and this was certainly the best for atmosphere, luxury and value for money. We'll certainly go back.

Our stay at this fabulous B&B was a Sliver Wedding anniversary gift from our kids. We have travelled extensively all over the world and this place rates among the best of all accommodation. From the greeting upon arrival, our stay was amazing. Luxurious and tranquil, welcoming and atmospheric, we would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Perfect!!!!

Room Tip: The whole house is fab, every possible extra carefully thought of and added.

We recently had a wonderful stay at this luxury B&B .Our bedroom had tremendous space and wonderful character ,in keeping with the rest of the house, that comes with a unique period property such as this. (This was a big differentiator for us when comparing to more traditional B&B.)
Our room was on right hand side on top landing and with wonderful views of adjacent countryside and a very luxurious ensuite with bath.
We also had one of the best sleeps ever (even comparing to some 5 star hotels we have stayed in).
The full Scottish breakfast was equally excellent in the downstairs dining room with all produce locally sourced from Hopetoun farmshop.
Equally a great place for a family or group of friends to stay.
