Premier Inn Edinburgh (South Queensferry) Hotel
Certificate of Excellence

Top class premier inn. Although a distance from the centre, there is a train station a few minutes drive from the hotel, from there you can get the train directly into Waverley. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Advantage of free parking at the hotel which saves a fortune compared to city centre hotels.

Recently stayed at the Premier Inn at Queensferry near Edinburgh. Very helpful and friendly staff allowed us to have a very comfortable stay. We arrived at 08:30 due to an early flight and after enjoying a good breakfast the staff arranged for us to check in early enabling us to get ready for a wedding we wre attending. Brilliant service levels from very very helpful staff and would recommend to anybody wishing to stay at Edinburgh.

Excellent value for money, stayed with 2 kids (age 12 and 8) in family room for weekend base to explore Edinburgh. Each kid had own bed. Breakfast was good quality and a good selection. Location is only 20 mins car drive to city centre.

We stayed here when attending a wedding in Queensferry. The service was as you'd expect form this chaon of hotels. The room was spacious, clean and warm. Staff were happy to help with any requests. It's a short walk from the town centre but taxis were easy to come by.

At the corner of Builyeon road A904 and an on ramp to the Firth of Forth road bridge, the motel building (ground plus two upper floors) was a bit difficult to see from the street — it was partly hidden by trees and other greenery, as was the sign with the name of the road. From a distance, one can see only the sign for Brewers Fayre at the top of a squat square tower at the restaurant end of the building. If you see a BP petrol-gas station and a McDonalds restaurant, the motel is to their right. Note that the McDonalds has free WiFi and closes late, usually 11 p.m.; the motel charges for use of their Internet.

The staff at reception were pleasant, cooperative, helpful and responsive to our request for the type of room we preferred. (Quieter rooms are on the top floor, end of corridor and facing the houses at the back of the motel.)

The room was clean and spacious but rather basic. The floor was carpeted and the furniture built-in comprising open shelves and clothes-hanging space. A long counter-desk attached to a wall had a small flat-screen TV at one end (showing a variety of British and a few foreign, English-language news channels), and coffee-tea making facilities and a hair dryer at the other end.

This particular room would have benefitted by the addition of a second sofa chair and a proper table (rather than just a small, low, square coffee table). The room did not have a telephone and the motel did not have a pay phone. There were in-room heating and a free-standing fan but no air conditioning. The room had good soundproofing from outside the motel but admitted corridor noises (an almost inevitable situation which, however, did not cause us a problem).

The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a full bath with shower. The hot water worked well. Hand and body soaps were liquid.

Were it not for the row of trees at the edge of the back parking area, one would have had a lovely view from the top-floor rooms of the road bridge and the Firth of Forth in the distance.

If you go to the top of the exit stairs in the tower at the pub-restaurant end of the motel, you can enjoy a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside and over the Firth of Forth. You also have a direct view down the length of the road bridge and a side view of the historic railway bridge in the distance.

A 5-10 minute walk across the road bridge approach ramps and down the street will lead you to a Tesco supermarket and a Tesco petrol-gas station (which had the cheapest petrol of the refuelling stations near the roundabout). The Tesco is diagonally across the roundabout from the hotel, but at a lower level and so difficult to see.

Food at the Brewers Fayre pub-restaurant, attached to the motel, was average but of reasonable price and quality, particularly the specials (at the time of our visit): from noon till 6:30 p.m. — two main courses for 10 pounds, two desserts for 2 pounds; on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday — set main course and beverage for 6.99 pounds; and on Sunday a choice of roasts — two courses for 9 pounds, three courses for 11 pounds.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms are on the top floor, end of corridor and facing the houses at the back of the motel.
