Lovely little rooms, with all you need for a weekend stay. Staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, lots of choice and we even sat outside looking over the water.
Surprisingly quiet, considering the late opening bar downstairs.
Paid £120 per night for double room, but booked last minute (day before) so not to bad at all!

8.8.13 - Visited the Antico Cafe Bar last night with a visitig friend from England. The service was very slow and the waiter totally lethargic. Starter of Nachos and Chowder were nice but there was nothing nice to say about the mains. Friend had the Southern Fried Chicken with Puffy Potatoes which turned out to be lumps of chicken in an overcooked breadcrumb base with overcooked potato wedges. The Caesar Salad was expensive and ordinary. It took nearly 5 minutes to get the waiter's attention to get the bill, when it arrived was asked to pay by card. Waiter went away and came back to say "sorry, our card machine is now broken you will have to go and pay at reception". On doing this the receptionist asked if we had enjoyed our meal to which we said that it was ok but not fantastic. She just shrugged her shoulders and took the payment! No tip left for sure and won't be back. I live in Cramond and visit South Queensferry a lot usually visiting the Ravenous Beastie Cafe which is opposite and there is a much better service and lovely food. Go there instead. The only good thing about the visit was the fantastic view of the Bridges.

We occasionally come to the Orocco Pier for our breakfast as a family as we love the views and relaxed atmosphere. We have a young girl who is fussy but she loves the bacon and sausage rolls, my wife and I have the full Scottish breakfast with the haggis. The staff are always friendly and the prices for the food are just about right.

don't stay here, please, i dont want it to be full when i come back, i had the tinniest room in the world with the most amazing view, great food, sensibly priced beer, i had room service and was asked if i wanted it all at once or to come seperately, i have never been asked this before, a nice touch, a great breakfast the next day,

I stayed at The Orocco Pier for a couple of nights earlier this month. I am familiar with the place having visited several times in the past for meals and/or drinks. The highlight is clearly the location. The views out to the Forth both from the bar and also the terrace below are just stunning and we were lucky to be staying during the period of warm , sunny weather.
The room looked very nice but wasn't always terribly practical . For instance in the designer bathroom there was only a very narrow tiny shelf which wasn't wide enough to put anything on so my wash bag and contents had to stay on a table in the bedroom . Nevertheless it was clean and the shower was top notch. I had a room around the side so wasn't disturbed by noise (although I was there midweek not weekend) but despite opening the window as wide as possible found it very hot and stuffy. There was a fan in the room but no air con.
I ate in both the bar and in the Restaurant. Both are slightly pricey but given the location that isn't surprising . The service in the bar was pretty slow and offhand which was a surprise as I've always had good service previously even when the place is busy. The restaurant service was good. I was frankly bemused by the service of breakfast which I only tried the once. It was slow , the food was uninspiring and the choice limited. But the view whilst I was waiting was great.

I'd visit the Orocco Pier again to eat or drink but am not sure whether I'd stay again.

Friends wedding reception was in Orocco Pier at the weekend. During the reception I wondered why there were people standing in the doorway dressed in casual clothes. The hotel were actually showing people around the venue in the middle of the wedding so these people were actually being walked in to the room where we were all just finishing our dinner and being told all about what was available to them.

The food was served starting with the top table and with massive gaps between each of the other tables being served. By the time some of the tables were served many of the guests had already finished. There were huge gaps between courses. This meant that the wedding ran very late. The night guests were to arrive at 7.30 and the first dance to be at 8. At 8 some people were just getting desserts so people were having to hang about upstairs waiting to get in, they had to move tables around while all the guests were still sitting in the room instead of getting them to go upstairs and it ate into half the dancing time it ran over so much.

The food itself was good. Drinks at the bar were expensive but that is what we expected.

The bedrooms, although decorated nicely, were so loud with noise from the main street down below. It sounded like the windows were open it was so loud with the cobbles below. From early in the morning all you could hear were doors slamming constantly as people started to move around and go for breakfast.

Check in is not til 4pm which is extremely late especially given that they want you out of the room by 11am.

I would never pay to stay overnight here again and if the service was as bad up in the restaurant as it was in the wedding room then I would not have the patience to eat there again either.
