Lovely stay with my girlfriend at the Dakota in Edinburgh. Had lunch from the bar menu and it was excellent, not ridiculously priced like some hotels. Best onion rings ever ! Didn't eat in the bar and grill, looked a bit fine cuisine for me. Room was really good, bed was as comfortable as I have ever slept on. Sky sports in your room ! Breakfast was good as well, plenty to chose from and really well laid out. Cracking stay and would highly recommend.

My partner booked this hotel for an over night stay on our way to Aberdeen so I was expecting a travel inn style hotel as he told me it was only £79 a night. However, what we got was high class hotel! The hotel is out of town and on approach looks like a headquarters from a James Bond movie which I was unsure about but your first step in you are greeted by a warm and luxurious reception finished to a very high standard.

We had a standard room but it is one of the best rooms I have stayed in; it was modern, clean, furnished with contemporary but homely pieces and you felt like you had spent much more than the £79. The room also came with the usual facilities such as tea and coffee, ironing board and Sky TV.

We ate in the restaurant which did not disappoint either. The service was impeccable with the waiter being extremely attentive but no overbearing in any way. The food was immense; I had the seafood platter and I most definitely did not have any complaints as it was perfect and fresh along with the other 2 courses we had.

If you are looking for a stop gap or affordable luxury in Scotland this is a hotel to stay in.

Excellent hotel, superb location, 5 minutes to train station. The hotel decor is to a very high standard with lovely furniture and open fire, all the staff were very friendly and attentive. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would definately stay there again

I stayed one night on business. A thoroughly classy hotel both inside and out. Externally, a dark monolith rising incongruously from wastelands amid Tesco’s and Frankie and Bennys car parks. Internally, subdued lighting and tasteful furnishings make it a distinctive and comfortable oasis. My room was adequately sized and stylishly appointed. I didn’t eat in the restaurant but the menu looked promising, if a little pricy. The staff appeared well trained and courteous. Not so great was the free wifi which was unusably slow at times. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.

I stay away for work at least once a week on average and I have the pleasure of staying at Dakota at least once every four weeks. It is quite simply a brilliant hotel. The facilities are first rate, the feel is very smart and polished, the staff are professional and polite, and the food is outstanding (I'd particularly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast - delicious!)

If you need to stay anywhere in the Rosyth/Dunfermline/South Queensferry area - look no further.

Stayed here for business last week. Great location by the bridge and handy for where I was working.

Everything very mood lighting, dark corners, no natural light,

Staff mostly female, obviously selected for style but Friendly and helpful.

I wasn't very comfortable here as a lone female business traveller. There was nothing cosy about the place and the restaurant seating was horrid. Lone diners sat in a sad row. Food was great though - do have the lobster if you can. Cooked breakfast pricey - porridge counts as cooked so go for the full works..

On the whole I won't be coming here next time. Too much sleekness and not enough comfort.

My wife and myself choose the Dakota after it was recommended to us by friends and we where not disappointed. Outstanding restaurant and rooms, really friendly staff and ideal location just next to the Forth road Bridge. :)
