As hotels go this is a gem, it is so atmospheric and from the rather factory like exterior you will be amazed at the cool and relaxing interior.

The rooms are spacious and well presented, but above all else this hotel is so quiet it's the perfect way to get a good night sleep.

The restaurant food is nice, apart from a mix up with the cooking of a steak but they quickly brought us a fresh one. Breakfast is cooked to order and fresh.

The service throughout the hotel is friendly and pleasant without being overly intrusive which is great.

Would definitely go back if needed to stay near Edinburgh, much better than an over prices city centre hotel!

We stayed here for a night after a friends wedding. The wedding started at 2pm which is when they normally allow check in but they very kindly let us check in early so we could get ready. The room was very comfortable, tidy and modern. Room service was prompt and delicious. Bathroom very modern and spotlessly clean, shower to die for. Breakfast was freshly cooked not the horrid semi-warm metal dishes that a lot of places have, and delicous. Would definitely recommend.

We are regular visitors to the area, and have tried staying in several hotels, (either side of the Forth bridges), which disappointed us. (Don't let the location of the hotel put you off as it is located in a retail park. At least you can have a choice whether you eat in or out, and can go to Tesco easily).

As the Dakota is a gem and is where we will stay for future visits. The hotel is easy to find, and so convenient just off the M90. Ample parking and easy entry to the hotel, essential if you are disabled. From reporting to reception, to leaving, we found the staff friendly and efficient, service how it should be.
The decor is " boutique hotel" and very comfortable. The lift is amazingly fast, I actually don't like using lifts, but these are a good size and I hadn't time to panic!
The room was- good size, with everything you need. The bathroom special with waterfall shower. The best part was we were able to actually sleep as the bed was so comfortable, and the room had air conditioning, (essential as the weather at the time of our visit was so hot).
There is no sound from the road, or the other hotel users, which also helped us sleep so well.
We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Fresh and cooked to order, they even managed to accommodate my husband who is a vegetarian, with tasty food he actually enjoyed. Not the usual veggie lasagne or macaroni cheese he is usually offered.
Breakfasts are special, buffet with array of cereals, yoghurt, juices etc, but as we dislike hot buffet breakfasts where food is put out on display for ages, we were pleased to be served a cooked breakfast again cooked to order.

Having previously paid much higher tariffs for hotels offering similar facilities, the Dakota ( taking everything into account) is excellent value for money .
We would certainly recommend the hotel.

I arrived at the hotel Dakota on the 13th July for a meal with my partner, this was the first time I had been here and will most certainly be back! I was seated at one of the square tables and was served by a young girl called Olivia, I caught her name as like to address people using there names. I would like to personally thank her for making our meal enjoyable and for taking the time to ensure that our needs were being fully met. The meal was excellent, along with the outstanding service I will be back and will share my experience with others. thank you again!

A complimentary shuttle ( Monday-Friday only), driven by a young man in a black kilt, whisks you away for the 15 minutes drive to the hotel. The first look is very surprising. A granite-clad cube in the countryside next to a supermarket. Sleek elegance strikes you when you enter the hotel. The dark grey, comfortable room is welcoming as is the bathroom with its rain shower and its generous amenities. There are a few jarring bit: the silly hangers that cannot be removed easily and the "wardrobe" cleverly hidden behind the bed does not accommodate longish dresses, nor can trousers be hung by their cuffs. The restaurant's food is fresh and well presented. The staff is composed of stylish young women, all clad in black. They are knowledgeable and helpful.
The hotel seems to be set up to accommodate business meetings. Its location doesn't allow you to escape easily to a pub or to shopping or sightseeing, but if you travel toward the Highlands and wish for a stylish and comfortable night's rest, this is a very pleasant stopping place.
