I previously reviewed the Dakota Hotel in 2011 and have continued to visit for special occasions, and every visit (including our most recent in May 2014) has been excellent! From the moment you walk in it feels like a treat with a luxurious atmosphere and welcoming staff. We often go for a special night out even though its not far from home, as their dinner, bed, and breakfast packages are excellent value for money. Beautiful cocktails in the bar, delicious dinner with great service, clean, comfortable, modern rooms, an excellent breakfast (with continental selections as well as a hot breakfast options) before departure make a weekend night feel extra special! Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

I stay here quite often on business and it never fails to deliver. The rooms are clean and modern and remarkably good value. However, the food is worth a special mention. Some of the best fish and chips you can get anywhere. Can't wait to stay again.

Spent the night here as part of my partners birthday celebrations and have to say everything was as expected and also pleasantly surprised with just how good the hotel was.

For the price, i was expecting better than your usual standard hotels and it did not fail to deliver.

The hotel is decorated with a modern slightly industrial theme but also has a homely feel from the furnishings through to the pleasant that you encounter.

I also dined in the hotel restaurant and have to say the food was amazing. Reasonably priced food and drink done with a lot of style. The staff are very attentive and were happy to help with allergies that our party had.

Overall this is a hotel that i was expecting a lot from and it duly delivered. It is a hotel that i will always return to.

This hotel is an absolute gem, from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we walked back out of the doors a couple of days later, my wife and I couldn't find fault from the reception down to the chambermaids, the service, food and ambience was excellent. The same applies to our room also, excellent.
We wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel one bit.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Just pick a room, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed 1 night at the Dakota Edinburgh on the spur of the moment. We called the hotel direct on the day, and managed to get a good deal for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.
The hotel is outside of Edinburgh city centre, but we took the train from Queensferry Dalmeny station (the station is 5 minutes by car from the Dakota, with free parking at Dalmeny), which took us into Edinburgh Waverley Station in about 25 minutes. The train is every 20 mins, and cost approx £7.40 each return.
The hotel looks like a brown chocolate box from the outside, but inside its quite modern and funky. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with large comfortable bed and powerful shower. The reception staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful.
My only slight gripe is the lighting is very dim inside, giving a gloomy appearance (reminds me of the Malmaison hotels??).
We enjoyed some refreshments in the hotel lounge, but took a walk into Queensferry village (25 minute walk) and took in some of the local bars which give some lovely panoramic views of the forth bridges.
The breakfast was very good, with a buffet for the cold choices, and a cook to order for the hot.
I would recommend this hotel to family and friends next time they stay in Edinburgh.

I have had a pleasure to stay in the Dakota Edinburgh hotel on a few occasions and I have never been disappointed. The hotel is well situated. The rooms are very nice with a quite unique decor. Always very clean. Beds are very comfy.
The Grill restaurant has a great menu and there is something for everyone.
The staff at the Dakota hotel are very polite and friendly.Nothing is too much for them. I have had great experience right from the start when I arrive to the last minute when I check out.
