Stayed at this ultra modern hotel in Edinburgh. The dark decor make this unique hotel special. The room was new and just felt like something out of a Tom Clancy Novel. Great service, great care great drinks. Delivery to the airport topped off a great stay. I will stay there each time at the Dakota at the olde Edinburgh town. Thanks so much.

Chic, modern, cozy, comfortable dark surroundings, candlelit day and night. Comfortable room, great bathroom well lit (for makeup application!). Only minor niggle is took ages to find plug near mirror to use hairdryer - found next day! Staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast delicious, good choice, something for everyone. Would recommend and definately stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view of the bridge.

booked 2 rooms for family wedding for 2 nights - had arranged for courtesy vehicle to meet us at the airport. Long story but this resulted in us having to wait an hour and a half in a cold car park. we arrive at the hotel, no apology, instead we are told that the whole stay has to be paid for on arrival! This is a first to me.
As far as the hotel building is concerned, felt a bit like landing in a tardis in the middle of an industrial estate, open the door and you are greeted by two heavy curtains obscuring the reception area - wierd. rooms comfortable enough and quiet. Lovely breakfast served by friendly, helpful staff. suited our purpose vis-a-vis location but wouldn't stay there again. short walk to village of south queensferry which is cute.

we had a lovely time --but I am a women of an age and prefer a brighter surrounding, I enjoy the individualized care we received from Joanna, although she seems to have many tables to serve she did make us feel that we were the most important, with very attentive and prompt service.
I love that we get free nuts, There is a very varied choice of wine by the glass, and there was a really good selection of lagers for the man who pays.
I have eaten at the eurocentral and may have to try eating here next time.

I was booked here by a group so arrived solo unsure, I got a lovely smiling and helpful welcome so was put at ease immediately. it is a bit of a 'block' building, but inside the ambiance is surprisingly cosy.

The room was comfortable and had all I needed including iron etc, and all very accessible so no 'digging around in the back of the cupboard'.

The train station is 15 minute walk but when I asked was immediately given lift there by concierge in hotel car. Excellent access to Edinburgh city and very central , only £4.50 and a train every 10minutes and is approx a 10min ride so no worrying about timing etc.

Felt very safe on my own.

Breakfast was excellent and all the time I was there, the staff were cheerful and helpful , what ever they may have been feeling privately, I never felt anything other than a welcome guest.
can recommend this.

I took a taxi from the airport to here but after that the trains were quite easy.

So normally i end up in drab and dreary chain hotels with work, that's just what the budget buys. But this place was recommended by colleagues who've also needed to stay in the area and it delivers.

From the moment you see the building from the motorway you know this is no Premier Inn clone.

I only stayed one night and arrived at 10:30pm, checked out at 8:15am but was impressed from start to finish.

The style starts the moment you step in the doors.

The room was brilliantly laid out (wardrobe storage behind the bed head), a decent size Sony telly with freeview so easy to navigate and use, a good size bathroom (shower not bath) but a great shower at that.

Air con was effective and quiet. I hadn't realised i had a room facing the motorway until i open the blinds in the morning - the sound was really not a problem at all.

Breakfast excelled, seriously the best marmalade i've ever had.

Only two minor niggles:

1. Internet in the room was slow - this is a common problem i think but in the time i was there it didn't affect me a great deal.
2. The sink is a let down to the decor - cheap plastic feel and sound and the plug needed attention to make it drain properly.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Dakota and will be back.

We booked the Dakota on a park and stay basis, this at a reduced rate on the internet. We arrived on Sun 3rd august parked the car and booked into the hotel were given a room and left the next morning on the free shuttle for the airport, Returned 1 week later were shuttled to the hotel and picked up our car. The first impression of the hotel was slightly off putting, it bears more than a passing resemblance to a Darth Vader creation, ( all black and forbidding). The site of the hotel seemed slightly strange at first- in a retailpark with tescos the closest neighbour with a Frankie and Bennies and Burger KIng in close attendance. Once inside the rather strange entrance ( curtains shield the foyer rather like the entrance to a fortune tellers tent ) all our reservations were quickly dispelled. The booking was quickly confirmed by the efficient and friendly staff and we were allocated a room . The room itself was excellent with a modern design, free wifi and all you might need for a comfortable stay. The room also had a great view of the Forth railway bridge. We elected to eat at Frankie and bennies, big mistake. All in all a positive experience, with one proviso if you want the shuttle to the airport make sure you book it there and back. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to our friends and would return with pleasure.
