“Great Place to Relax and Unwind”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2012

We had a great time here a little after Labor Day. Clean, cozy room with a wonderful view. The island was calm and quiet and relaxing. Great coffee and AMAZING homemade muffins for breakfast. (Chip will even give you the recipe!) The owner is a total local with lots of character and information. He took us to a fantastic local secluded spot that not everyone gets to see. Oustanding host! Staff was very friendly and helpful and did a great job. You almost don't need to go anywhere else to really enjoy the island. The lawn, dock, rocks, water, all right out the front door. Walking distance to excellent restaurant and cafe. All just what we needed to get away and unwind for a few days. Looking forward to going back!

Room Tip: Room 7 has a great view.

We enjoyed our night here. It's no frills as far as the room goes, but the price is very reasonable. It was peaceful and off the beaten path but not too far from everything. The restaurant in walking distance was also very good. The coffee and muffins in the morning, enjoyed in lawn chairs overlooking the ocean was wonderful. The office staff were very pleasant and so were the other guests. I would definitely go back- but with my own pillow- theirs were very stiff. (-:

This was our first time to Baileys Island and we will definately be going back! We had a wonderful time exploring the island and the beaches. The motel and very nicely located on the water with great restuarants within a short walk. The owner always went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and loved to spend his time talking and laughing with his guests. Much more like a B and B experience then a motel. Well worth the trip for a very rare old time Maine coast experience with out the amusement park/ tourist junk shop atmosphere you get further down the coast.

This was our first time to Bailey Island and loved the area. The motel is a cute looking place and has wonderful views of the ocean from the yard. But I was disappointed the rooms didn't have those beautiful views. It's an older place and they've done some re-decorating so it was okay inside. It was clean. There is a good seafood restaurant close by which is very busy. If it had been warmer, we could have sat outside and enjoyed the views but were pretty much stuck inside. The breakfast consisted of muffins and drinks but you needed to take it back to your room, as there was no place to sit and it was too cold outside. Maybe it would have been a better experience if the weather had been warmer. The hike to the Grand Staircase was really nice though.

Bailey Island is off the beaten path in Maine, located as it is on Casco Bay south of Brunswick, and this makes it a perfect place for those seeking a quiet and lovely coastal setting. The Bailey Island Motel, just one of only a few lodging choices on the island, offers very clean and comfortable rooms, wonderful views of the bay, and a staff that couldn't be friendler. A continental breakfast of juice, coffee, tea and delicious warm muffins is offered each morning which you can enjoy on the lawn. If you're a cat lover, you'll like getting to know Bailey, their great orange cat who roams the grounds freely. For lunch or dinner, the well-known and nearby Cook's serves terrific lobsters and other seafood selections. Take the short drive down to the end of the road for the Land's End gift shop, take one of several cruise trips around Casco Bay, or just enjoy the drive on nearby Harpswell Island which has over 200 miles of coast. Whatever you do, the Bailey Island Motel is a wonderful place to stay.

What a wonderful place. The location was perfect, and the motel was clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The muffins in the morning were a nice touch. We'll definitely be back. One of my favorite places in the world. :)

We have been visiting Bailey Island for a number of years now but they have always been day trips from Portland. During each visit we would notice the Bailey Island Motel and think how nice it would be to stay there. Well we finally did and we're kicking ourselves for not doing it sooner. What a gem this place is. Very casual and informal. Almost a throwback to what motels were like before the big chains took over. Our room was charming and clean and very comfortable. The property is fantastic with views in all directions. Excellent muffins (warm) in the morning. Had a mini-heat wave in Maine in October so I was able to have my muffin and coffee outside on the dock. Heaven! The folks that work there were so nice and had lots of local information. Very helpful. This was the last day of a 9 day stay in Maine and it was a wonderful way to end the week. Can't wait to book next year.
