One of the most beautiful cemeteries I have visited I a long time, maybe ever!!! Kept up well and there is much history here. They encourage the locals to walk through it as much as possible and often as they like...

Some may wonder "Why visit a cemetery when you don't know anyone buried there?". The reason? for Historical and thought provoking reasons, and for pure enjoyment of the lands.
This Cemetery is under perpetual care, and is a beauty. There are many great cemetery locations. Some dedicated to military, some just specialized to a specific war.
This cemetery is an eclectic mix of many types of graves and memorials. Many are the average people who lived in the area. Others are well known for their accomplishments and family.

Make sure that before going, you print out a copy of the guided walk from their website. This will give you a little history, and things to look for.

I would bring back friends and family here just for the nice walk.

We stopped and went for a walk through the grounds. It was a really nice day and we had a lovely time. Be sure to visit the website and print the map as well as the information about the monuments and other historic sites. Lots of history to learn about!

We walk here frequently and bring the grandchildren to see the turtles and frogs. It is well maintained and the walk always reveals something interesting!

This cemetery is the second oldest in the US so many parts are filled with grave markers from the 1800's. Beyond the age of the cemetery the other interesting aspect is the variety of sizes and shapes of markers - everything from common headstones to crypts, statues and spires.

Of historical note - Susan B Anthony and Fredrick Douglas are buried here.
Of movie note - several scenes from Pet Semetery were filmed here.
