I drive to Bangor several times a year to go shopping. Econolodge is always where I stay. It's clean, inexpensive & close to the i-95. Yes it's basic..but the beds are comfy ( although, I am a pillow snob, and always bring my own), the bathroom, though small...is good. The wireless internet access is fabulous. The rooms all include fridges and microwaves. There is lots of parking. All the staff I have encountered in my visits( 4 total to date) have been excellent...very friendly.

I never have eaten breakfast there so can't comment on the breakfast room. I grab fruit and yogurt at the Irving convenience store next to the hotel, put it in my fridge, bring oatmeal packages from home for the microwave...and have great breakfasts. There is also a Subway at the Irving, and, for us Canucks..a Tim Hortons right past the Irving. There is also a Dunkin' Donuts nearby.

Econolodge will continue to be my hotel of choice for my shopping trips!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, request a room away from the breakfast room!

Funny thing about Bangor hotels - either super expensive and so so or just expensive and very very basic. The Econo lodge falls in the later category. The hotel is showing its age and has minimal updating. The beds are the same age of the hotel it seems. The rooms are very clean. The staff tried to be helpful regarding an extra charge from hotels.com (never ever ever use hotels.com - a division of expedia) however their efforts did not resolve the problem. Breakfast was not that great although the staff tried to keep the room clean as best they could. The walls are paper thin and the drunken idiots next door kept us up to 3:00am. Was it wrong to call their room when we left??? Stay somewhere else.

The 4 days that I was there was great. The staff where nice and polite. The housekeepers need a little bit more happiness and better attitudes though( not all). The only down fall really in my stay was the pool and breakfast. The pool is "heated" however it was freezing cold the whole time there, as for the breakfast it was ok just thought that it would change not just having same food of ceral toast n bagels and a few cereals...but over all I loved my stay there!!

A clothes pole in a corner blocked by the bed and table, a limited number of electrical outlets already filled with multi-plug adaptors, no space too put anything on the tiny counter around the sink, toilet so close to both the bathtub and the wall it was hard to reach the toilet paper roll, combined to make this a unique and singularly unpleasant place, in my opinion. Breakfast included several items that seemed to have n taste at all, including plain cake donuts and canned fruit cocktail. Pets are welcome for an extra charge of only $10, which is a great deal if you would rather take your pet than board it for $30 a day, but there should be a warning for those allergic to cats or dogs. Next time I will try one of the other motels near the Bangor airport.

I stayed here because of a last minute trip & all the other hotels were booked. It was supossed to be a "Platnum" hotel - WRONG !!! Rooms were tiny & I was UPGRADED !!!! It was clean BUT VERY bare bones. This place should be your alternative to sleeping in your car; YOU CAR MAYBE BIGGER THAN THE ROOMS !!!

Clean hotel, easy to find on the outskirts of Bangor, near the airport (no notable airport noise in the room though). Staff was efficient, plenty of parking space available, a good night's sleep.

All in all a decent place to stay if you're on a budget (I wanted to stay nearer Acadia, but hotels out there were charging ridiculous fares).

Only peculiarity was, that the fire alarm went off in the late afternoon, and there was no visible action taken to have the hotel evacuated (yes, I know, own responsibility and stuff, but still, people are like sheep, and they sometimes need other people to give them orders and to demonstrate what needs to be done). Luckily, the hotel didn't burn down and we could re-enter some fifteen minutes later, after the fire department gave the green light to do so.
