Lot's of campground choices around Acadia and Bar Harbor. Bass Harbor is all the way down at the bottom of the peninsula, just down the road from the lighthouse, and off the beaten track and a away from the maddening crowds yet only a few minutes to everything in the area.
We needed a reservation on the busy Memorial Day weekend and everything was perfect with our reservation when we arrived. Zero problems throughout our entire stay. Although the campground was near capacity they gave us a couple of choices on sites and let us go take a look before picking. Lots of choices including platform camping on the not perfectly level sites. Sites are wooded and there is enough distance from other sites for a bit of seclusion and privacy. Large bathhouse was spotless and no waiting for showers.
Nice lounge area in office/shop where you can sit a spell and chat with others, get tips about local attractions, restaurants, etc. For us this was a perfect base camp for our time in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area.More
