“Friendly and impeccable”
Reviewed 20 January 2013

I stayed in three B&Bs this trip to mid-coast Maine; the Packard House took the candle. My room (Niagara) was light and elegant - not huge but perfectly appointed. Breakfast was a pleasure - unusual, not too sweet, healthy and luxurious at the same time. The inn is a quiet work of art and everything clean as a whistle, Amy and Mark are friendly, comfortable hosts. We'll be back!

We planned a Maine trip to see friends and family. My husband's favorite second cousin, Barbara, recommended this B and B. We had a wonderful time. Our hosts Amy and Mark are very gracious and committed to providing their guests with the best away from home experience.. Breakfast is incredible. Amy is a wonderful cook and all of our breakfast meals were creative, fresh and well prepared. Every attention to detail is made to insure each guest's satisfaction in every way. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed and very clean. This house is beautiful and is centrally located.

We will be back. One of the best B and B's we have been to! Thank you for a great experience.

Previous reviews of Benjamin F Packard House had been very positive and we were eually delighted with our stay. The bedroom was very pleasant and the owners have given over 3 downstairs rooms in their house to guests to either sit and relax or watch TV (the latter being in a separate room such that you don't feel that by watching it you're intruding on others). We found Bath a great location from which to explore the area and the town itself had all the facilities you need. Amy was always very happy to offer advice re places to eat/visit and the breakfast she provided was first rate. She also kindly supplied homemade cakes for afternoon tea.
All in all a really lovely start to our holiday.

This our second stay at this B&B and we brought our friends with us.(our friends didn't stop talking about it their entire time in Maine.) From the minute you go through the front door and met by Amy you fall in love! Beautifully decorated, comfy couches to lounge on, bedrooms are cozy and the inn is spotless. Besides being a superb innkeeper, Amy is a superb cook. The breakfasts are delicious!
Also the room rates are very reasonable and the location is walking distance to downtown where there are several great eateries.
They have a dog and a new puppy which you have to see in person.
So if you are traveling up the coast of Maine be sure to spend a night or two and stay here. You may never want to leave.
Thank you Amy for another home away from home visit!!

This is an elegant old house, furnished and decorated in styles reminiscent of the period, down to the antique bottles and modern yet appropriate art. The rooms are large and still cozy, the baths very nice while not being over-pretentious. Best of all was the breakfast. Every item was wonderful. Most are made from scratch in the kitchen. Even the granola was made right there, and it is so good, you can (and probably will) purchase the special recipe. The homemade buttermilk pancakes with wild Maine blueberries were, if I can use an overworked cliche, to die for. The house is in a wonderful old neighborhood, and there are self-guided walking tours that fans of architecture and the like will enjoy.

I normally don't write reviews, but my wife and I had a great mini vacation in Bath. Amy and Mark had tasty breakfasts, anticipated the fine details like a pitcher of ice water in the room upon returning from dinner. ensured there were lots of lights to read by. It was a home away from home, * don't forget to say hello to Lupi and soon to be little sister.

We spent a weekend at the Benjamin Packard House as part of our move to Maine. It is the cleanest place i have ever stayed, the rooms are beautiful and the hosts delightful, and all at prices that are incredibly reasonable.

We get there and were greeted by Amy, who gave us a quick tour of the downstairs. Three comfy, clean, cheerful sitting rooms. Simple, elegant decor allowed the 1850s house to really shine. She then showed us to our room which was enormous, with a very high king size bed and a huge, clean, bright and well thought out en suite. The linens were crisp and high quality, the towels fluffy and large, with lots of thoughtful touches, such as a pitcher of ice water left in the room in the evening.

Mornings started out with excellent coffee. Breakfast was superb, from the fresh (and when possible local) fruit, freshly baked pastries and through the expertly prepaed wonderful hot dishes. Our first morning was french toast (from homemade bread) that was perfectly crisp on the outside and impossibly light and fluffy on the inside. It was served with local real maple syrup, fresh maine blueberries and tasty sausage. The egg dish the next day was even better, with incredibly fresh local eggs with the brightest yellow-orange yolks. Being a bit piggish I also had some of the homemade granola with fresh berries. Excellent ( and no raisins to ruin it).

Hosts Amy and Mark were friendly and helpful with lots of great local information. It is clear they love their town and actively promote local businesses. They are not at all intrusive but are the perfect hosts. We had a wonderful time there. I almost regret that we now have our own place in the area because we won't have a reason to stay there now.

I have stayed at B&Bs in many parts of the country (and usually only review them if it is positive). This was not the fanciest but hands down the nicest, friendliest and most pleasant B&B we have ever stayed in, and one with very reasonable rates for the height of summer.

We loved it
