Loved it. Crystal Clean Water. Unreal Views. We loved every aspect of the bridge and stream. It is a must stop when in the Sunday River area.

this covered bridge is a little hidden gem that most look over as they see the signs on the roadsides. However, there is a narrow river that streams below and if you do have a half an hour or so to just sit on the side and breath in the clean fresh air while allowing your feet to enjoy the crisp mostly clear water is it just about the most perfect place on a hot summer day.

there arent many covered bridges like this around !

A very pleasant little spot to stop and walk around but, if you have the time to sit and enjoy the sound of the river and the breezes in the trees, it is an almost mystical spot. I have been to the bridge alone and with my family and they were two completely different experiences - both enjoyable in different ways. Alone with one's thoughts and the sound of the river, one can almost slip back in time. Quite interesting, really. There is a hiking trail which is excellent, especially in autumn, and the bridge itself is lovely. I think the original bridge was built in the 19th century and the present one in the mid-20th (though not sure on that) but, either way, the intricacy of construction is just wonderful to observe. Just outside of Bethel, Maine, it's a nice place to stop and explore. I know it appears on lists of `things to do' for the area but there's nothing really there to `do' except be with yourself and the environment. If you enjoy your own company, family, and nature, you'll love it but the place will not provide you with anything you don't bring yourself.

Thank Pryst

Each of the many covered bridges is unique--enjoy driving thru some & just the walk thru others. Walking thru Sunday River Bridge is great, because you can really see how the bridge is constructed. The intricate wood pegs of long ago. Good spot for pictures.
