“A peaceful stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2011

The town was so quaint and peaceful. Breakfast was a frittata and bacon, or homemade granola and yogurt - which was super yummy. The hostess, Patricia was nice. She could not meet us upon our arrival, so she left us a little note to make ourselves at home, and greet us. Staying there - felt like stepping back in time, into a Victorian Inn. The front porch is nice to sit on, on a nice fall night. There is a dance club nearby - the Funky Red Barn, and a few cute coffeeshops, a grocery store, post office, a bookshop, gift shop, a Japanese Restaurant, deli, churches, a historical museum, and hiking, skiing, kayaking nearby. Rooster's Roadhouse is a great restaurant in town if you are looking for a nice place for dinner. We had a very enjoyable stay for our 1st wedding anniversary celebration in Bethel, Maine.

Room Tip: Room #1 was very peaceful. Had a big bathroom, with a nice table and mirror to sit at to put on yo...

Owner saw us once for 5 minutes when we arrived and never again. Bed not made after first night. Had to forage in other rooms for clean towels. Kitchen so appalling dirty we had breakfast in another place. Most windows have cracked/broken glass. Windows can open, but no screens. It's a good location and a nice looking house on the outside, but once we saw that kitchen we were sickened and left as soon as possible.

Room Tip: My tip is not to go there in the first place.

tried the Victoria 4 years ago wasn't impressed, saw the Groupon Special for $159 for 2
nights with breakfast, we decided to try it again, glad we did, rooms clean, ate dinner there one night, menu limited but quite good, breakfast good, $159 for 2 nights was worth it, don't know if I would pay $159 for 1 night

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in the middle of May. The whole house had a very nice, rustic feel to it. The owner is a very friendly lady that was very quick to help us figure out the area and point us toward nice places off the beaten path. Overall, we had a good time - we enjoyed the breakfasts and the dining and living areas were clean.
On the downside was that we had noisy neighbors which could be fixed with running the bathroom fan overnight. Also, some of the support staff (high schoolers maybe?) working there seemed somewhat inexperienced in "etiquette".

We were greated on Friday night when we arrived. For some reason it was very awkward for our young hosts but acceptable. Saturday morning for breakfast (greeted by our hosts still in pajamas I believe) we were told of our choices; eggs, bacon, suasage, toast and cinnamon buns. We ordered eggs over easy and over medium, then over heard the "cook" saying there is no such thing as over medium eggs. We recieved our cinnamon buns, 20 min later we recieved our bacon and burnt toast after another 20 mins our server came out and told us the cook was having troulbe with the eggs and asked us if scrambled would be O.K.? There were 5 of us in the dinning room.
Saturday afternoon we noticed the dinning room had not been cleaned since breakfast. We asked our hosts about the heat in our room which was overbearing; the thermostat did nothing and there were no screens in the windows and plenty of May flies outside. They said they would try and get in touch with the owner and never mentioned it again to us.
On Sunday morning the dinning room still was not cleaned from Saturday mornings breakfast. My husbands coffee spoon remained just where he had left it. Our hosts were no where to be seen and we ate breakfast at the Sudbury Inn down the street.
We were led to believe we got these rooms for half price so it seemed the terrible service was easier to accept but when we asked around, the going rate for a room in Bethel ME in May before Memorial Day was right around what we paid. For a few dollars more we could have had the enjoyable weekend we were expecting.

We stayed at the Victoria Inn this weekend and could not have had a better experience. Pat is a terrific host and an AMAZING cook. Breakfast was absolutely delicious each morning. The hotel is very quaint and close to the slopes of Sunday River. All around, a great value and stay!
