Six of us occupied the upstairs suite and double bedroom of this lovely B&B during a few days of skiing at Sunday River. The hosts couldn't have been more accommodating - cooked breakfast in time for us to get the first ski lift; tea & coffee on demand; the cookie jar pointed out to the kids (and their random requests for drinks gratified); a glass of wine offered while warming up by the open fire... the hosts really seem to have thought of everything, from a place to dry ski boots to a corkscrew next to the guests' refrigerator. A perfect post-ski retreat (jacuzzi baths appreciated!), this B&B feels like a nice balance between a personal home and a well-run inn where guests are at once welcomed and left to their own space. We enjoyed the thoughtfully furnished rooms, fireside conversations with Carol and Scott, delicious homemade breakfasts and - oh yes, did I mention the open fire?

We've been coming here regularly for the past 6 years. Beautiful B&B, modernized in terms of bathrooms, WiFi and all other amenities. The hosts, Carol & Scott Gould, will welcome you and provide luxurious accomodations, an amazing breakfast, and have a drink with you by the fireplace in the evening. They are a terrific source of information and Scott is the best ski school teacher at Sunday River. Besides being totally delightful hosts, they provide great accomodations at a reasonable price. This B&B is nice and quiet; you won't hear your neighbors flusing the toilet, taking a shower or watching TV because no rooms have common walls. It is immaculately clean and you will absolutely love staying here.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms, and one is a suite, which will accommodate a family of up to 4. All the rooms a...

Because of an extension in stay requested by other guests, Carol asked if we would like to stay at the Lake Cottage and we agreed. We pulled into Bethel on a beautiful fall afternoon and met Scott mowing the lawn of the B&B. He showed us around the B&B which looked beautiful and then gave us the keys to the Lake Cottage. The Lake Cottage is fantastic. It is situated on a point at a beautiful small lake about 6 miles from Bethel. I could not believe the workmanship on the cottage. It is first rate. Scott and Carol did not cut corners anywhere in rebuilding this cottage. From the glass of wine on the deck in the evening to the cup of coffee on the deck the next morning everything was perfect. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and very nicely decorated as was the rest of the house. The lake is beautiful. I awoke to the sound a loon early in the morning and we were lucky to have a bald eagle land in the tree right off the deck. There was a little bit of highway noise in the afternoon but we did not notice this in the evening and night. The bed and breakfast in Bethel looked like a great place to stay and I know the Lake Cottage is. I would not hesitate to book with Scott and Carol the next time we pass through Bethel.

We are so glad that you were happy with your stay at the Lake House. I just wanted to also note for others reading this that it was the Lake House as we also have a vacation rental called the Lake Cottage.

We stayed a few nights in this B&B as part of a three week tour of New England. It was certainly one of our favourites. Scott and Carol have done a lovely job of renovating a 70s house so that it has all mod cons. After a while Victorian chintz can pall so we enjoyed this contrast. We had the Dogwood Suite on the upper floor which has its own sitting room - lovely. Both hosts were helpful with suggestions for activities (especially as it rained one day and we were a bit stuck) and where to eat. (Make it 22 Broad.) Top marks for breakfast too.

Scott was extremely accomodating to our family as we made our way from NH to Baxter State Park for a camping trip. Plans were made in haste for a variety of reasons and when we thought we had booked a room, we hadn't done so correctly. No problem. On our arrival, Scott calmly put my husband, myself and one of our adult children up, in 2 separate rooms, without any hassle. BHBB could not have been more welcoming. This is the greatest place to stay in this corner of Maine.

Room Tip: No tips, they're all great.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week in Bethel and the Moosehead Lake region. We stayed two nights at the Bethel Hill B & B and enjoyed every minute of it. The house was decorated beautifully and our room was very nice with an outdoor patio. I wish we could have used the fire pit, but the weather was not cooperating. Scott gave us much helpful information in knowing what to do in the area. I had no idea that this little town and surrounding area had so much to offer. The breakfasts were delicious and both Scott and Carol went out of their way to make our stay as special as possible. I would highly recommend this B & B to anyone going to this part of Maine for any season of the year.

My wife and I stayed here just this past week and had a great experience! Scott and Carol were warm and welcoming and very helpful to us in recommending a dinner location in Bethel as well as helping us navigate our journey the next day. The breakfast was great and the quite, quaint setting was fabulous - we highly recommend!
