“Fall tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

Part of our fall tour was the bethel inn , what can I say the hotel was old world and very clean , the owner greeted us and made us very welcome , the staff were courteous and helpful , food was good with a good variety . Have recommended this resort to others and will definitely return .

Room Tip: We'll worth checking out before the snow falls

The Bethel Inn was the perfect venue for my daughters wedding. All contingencies were covered from planning through execution of the event. It was a perfect day for the Happy Couple and an excellent experience for all of the guests. Many who attended stayed overnight and all were extremely pleased with their accomodations and the price. Additionally, the Bethel Inn provided the wedding meal and it was complimented by all. Usually a wedding meal is forgettable but the Bethel Inn made it memorable.
Overall the venue was perfect, the staff were exceptional, and the experience was one to remember for a lifetime. All who attended were very pleased

Room Tip: The rooms were very nice, but for an upgraded experience consider the condos with a view of the golf...

As a special treat my friend and I have stayed at this Inn for several years . We have always enjoyed a suite in the original Inn. There have been a few problems over the years but the staff has usually taken care of them. Since we don't play golf or ski we have loved it here because of the charm, the historical significance, the comfy sofas and roaring fire in the Fall, the lovely nostalgic paintings in gilded frames in the common area of the main Inn. What a disappointment to find that the remodeling included unattractive, uncomfortable couches, garish new lamps and stools and a new look completely out of character for a historical Inn. Our room was O.K. with the new furniture, but lacked 2 good chairs we used. What a disappointment-nostalga is gone and maybe so are we...

We were so sorry to learn of your disappointment in the new furniture and furnishings of our lobby area. As you point out, the historical significance of our 100 year old resort is important and our guests often comment positively on the art and displays that reflect our post-Victorian heritage. We believe that the new pieces in the lobby are consistent with our heritage and tradition but respect your differing point of view. Did you have a chance to visit the adjoining Gibson Room with its fireplace, softer furniture and couches and art and memorabilia displays? Please come back and visit us again and look me up personally if you do.

We decided to stay two nights for a training we had and we were lucky to get one of the studio units in a nearby building. The condo has units on 2 floors and we were on the bottom. It was very spacious and had everything we needed. The king bed was firm (as we like it) and the gas fireplace was a nice addition. It had a small kitchen complete with dishwasher. It is a bit dark since the unit above it has a deck overlooking the golf course. The bottom units have a patio under that deck. Only complaint would be that the walls are quite thin...we could hear our neighbor in the adjacent room talking. The solution to a good nights sleep......the heating/cooling unit has a fan setting that is a great "white noise" maker.

Room Tip: If you are in the one of the condo units, go for the 2nd floor as you will have the deck overlooking...

Thank you for your positive comments about our studio rooms in the Millbrook Townhome condos. These units are quite close to the main inn building and offer one, two, and three bedroom accommodations that are particularly attractive to families and couples vacationing together. We will look forward to meeting you personally during your next visit.

An enjoyable trip in every way. Two adults, four kids and no problems! The staff was wonderful and helpful. Everything that we asked for was quickly done for us. The kids had a blast playing outside and in the fitness center. Unfortunately the pool was closed but they did give us warning letting us know so we could prepare the kids beforehand. The Ladies at the front desk were so helpful in every way, whether it was helping us find things to do or sending faxes, they were there to totally accommodate our every need.

Thank you for your kind words… I will personally pass them along to our staff. We apologize about the pool closing but are confident that you and your family will appreciate the improvements in resurfacing, re-tiling, and other upgrades once the work is completed. April is our “in between” season in the Bethel area and we are so glad you decided to visit during this quiet time, even though the pool was closed.

The bethel inn is a beautiful inn with lots of charm. The staff is friendly and the two bedroom condo we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for our week long stay. My only complaint is that the pool was closed. This left us with unhappy kids. Sadly being early spring, the grounds were muddy and wet so we couldn't ski or hike. The large mountain only had advanced trails open so that was not an option. The ice was melted so we couldn't ice skate. We planned this trip thinking the pool would entertain the kids. We did still have a relaxing vacation. The views were amazing. If you visit the area check out Sunday River Gems. The kids loved picking out gems and stones and the prices were very inexpensive.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your review and for your compliments on your condo accommodations. We sincerely apologize that you were not forewarned about the scheduled pool closing for extensive renovations. As you can see from an adjacent other review, our policy was to notify guests prior to their booking but we must have missed in your case. Also, you may be interested to know that an extensive museum for gems, located in the heart of Bethel, is in the process of completion and should be open during your next visit. When you return, please contact me personally… I would appreciate the opportunity to apologize and welcome you back to The Inn.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

We had a very nice stay at the Bethel Inn the 2nd week in March. We stayed mid-week for 4 nights on their breakfast/dinner included package. The lobby and dinning areas are very nice. The food was scrumptious and loads of it.We were skiing so I brought a cooler to keep things from freezing and we had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Everyone who worked there was VERY friendly and helpful. The gal at the front desk went to housekeeping for me a few times and always had a smile and never seemed putout. The hostesses and waitstaff were friendly and remembered us every time we went in. The gym equipment was updated and in a nice spacious clean room. The sauna was very nice
Now for the reasons I couldn't give it an excellent rating. The pool is rather sad looking and needs some work. The locker room is outdated and small. The rooms could use some new furniture and some color. We were in the main part of the Inn and its looking a bit tired. Every thing is clean but worn down.-
But we would go back in fact we were just talking about that for next ski season.
We also got a couples massage - fantastic!!!

Room Tip: Mid week ask for an upgrade

Thank you for your kind words about dining and our staff…. I will personally pass your compliments along to them. Very recently, we shut down our outdoor, year-round pool for refurbishing. When it reopens in a few weeks, it will have redone tiles and be completely re-surfaced. We are also planning some upgrades for our public areas and will have completed face-lifts on almost all of our traditional inn rooms. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
