If the Smithsonian wanted to create an exhibit of what motels looked like in 1958, they could use this place, right down to the pre-lawsuit-age glass shower doors on the bathtub. But unlike many old motels, this one is actually in excellent shape. It's clean, fresh smelling and offering amenities from inroom coffee to 90 something channel cable tv to shampoo and soap and plenty of hot water. The bed had quite a nice covering - what do you call it? Shams? Pillow covers? I don't know, but it was more than the usual frayed bedspread. Someone here has a decorator's inclination.

But I didn't stay here for all that - I was actually looking for the cheapest place I could find for an economy stayover on business. This was it, at least in August, at $55 when everything else in the area was $70 on up. Yes, August and yes, the air conditioning worked well. Will the antique heating work once winter comes? Try it and write a review after you do so we all know.

The location is on a somewhat industrial stretch of Rt. 1 and the exterior needs a paint job, but once inside the room, it's comfortable. And cheap! They say rates are going down to the $40's after Labor Day.
