“Excellent Adventure!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2013

This past weekend a group of 11 of us family and friends got together and went whitewater rafting through North Country Rivers. I have only great things to say about the experience and would absolutely recommend them if you are looking to try rafting. This was my first time whitewater rafting and I can't wait to do it again.

The guides are a lot of fun, very laid back and great cooks too!

The whole trip went very smoothly, the guides were very capable and everyone had fun in a very exciting/ dangerous way. The lunch prepared by the guides and crew was DELICIOUS. Chicken, steak, fish or veggie burgers on an wood burning campfire, with "river rice", bread, mixed bean salad & cookies. It hits the spot and they get a camp fire going so you can warm up too.

Afterward we watched the slides of the pictures taken by the company (for sale), and relaxed with whatever beverages and snacks you had with you.

You can tell how hard these guys work, it shows in how smoothly everything is run, how clean the facility & equipment is, and how little you need to worry about anything.

“Good experience”

The crew there were knowledgeable, friendly and experienced. Our guide Brent was excellent. It is a whole day affair and they provide everything you need except for appropriate clothing.

“A great day rafting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

We had a wonderful day rafting down the Kennebec. Our guide, Justin, obviously new the river and rapids well. He steered us through lots of fun rapids without us ever feeling out of control. The lunch (included) was quite tasty after a morning on the river. This company sends a photographer out with each group to take photos and video. While buying the pix and/ or video is rather pricey, it is nice to have that option.

“Good rafting experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

A good well organised trip for family of four, we even got two trips for price of one. Young guides but pleasant, the big chief guide ' Andy' though, thought he was Mr funny except he was using the same one liners so much they have become a bit stale. I was slightly disappointed by the location of the cabins, they have basically been dumped in the middle of a field near the highway, considering the beauty of the area a wooded location would soften it. The cabins themselves are well equiped and comfortable. Good lunch and free use of mountain bikes.

“Excellent rafting tour by a well managed company.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013 via mobile

We recently completed a two night stay at the NRC cabin in Bingham, Maine which coincided with a rafting tour down the Kennebec River.

First, the rafting tour was excellent. The process was well managed before grouping boats together on a bus and heading to the launch spot, which was 45 minutes from NCRin Bingham. The tour guides are knowledgable, the rafts are advanced (automatic leakage rather than having to scoop the water out with buckets), and the rapids along the river were fantastic. The main downside was that most of the rapids occur right away and the second half of the tour is mainly in flat moving water. I wish they could pick up yor boat half way through and allow you to relaunch.

The lunch served was good, nothing great, but satisfying.

Overall if recommend using NCR to your the river.

The cabins are decent. We had ten guys in the cabin with one bathroom which could become difficult. Luckily it's a 1 minute walk to the main cabin/gift shop/bar with bathroom availability.

The bar is decent and the staff is friendly, they will stay open as long as you're buying drinks and enjoying the night.

The restaurant was good, I would recommend the prefixe dinner meal which includes salad, an entee and dessert. Breakfast is an all you can eat buffet.

The biggest downside is the required travel to Bingham as well as the launch spot. Bingham is a four-five hour drive from Boston (where we flew into) or two-three hours from Portland. The busses to the launch site are an additional 45-60 minutes from Bingham. There is also almost nothing around which requires to to use NCR facilities most of the time. There is a store across the street and a gas station nearby.

I would recommend trying this one time but would likely not go back. The travel time bodes to trying other rivers.
