“Lovely hike for two- and four-legged nature lovers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

We went clockwise around the Eastern Shoreline Loop (1.1 miles) and, like other reviewers, really enjoyed the water views. The first section passed the more enclosed of the inlets where the water was cloudy and greenish. Within minutes of the start we saw a great blue heron -- always a wonderful sight. The northern and eastern sides of the peninsula had clearer water from tidal flows. The trail sports two benches and is generally pretty easy but the exposed roots can make it difficult to take in the views while watching where you walk. All in all a lovely walk/hike.

“Glorious place to hike, great Maine coast views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

We found the East Ovens Mouth trail head and hike 1.1 mile around the shoreline of the eastern portion. Some parts of the trail are quite eroded and the tree roots need protection. The views of the shore and the tide rushing by are quintessential Maine coast. Easy hiking, rewarding, highly recommended.

“Great Easy Coastal Walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

This walk is easy enough for my older mother and enjoyable for me and my brother (in our early 30s). It's fairly quick, but you get a lot of nice views. Good for dogs as well. I wouldn't go when it's wet, but even in the winter it's nice.

“A lovely, gentle hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

The water-facing trails are lovely, and it's cool to watch the tide come in and out. We didn't catch the lady-slippers that are supposed to bloom in the spring. No facilities, but a couple of benches and plenty of ground to sit on if you pack in your lunch.

“Nice hike - fun times”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

make sure you bring the bug spray if you go later in the day. We were able to hike both sides. Trails are pretty well marked, but get just a little confusing. Easy hike. We were glad to have a water bottle with us.
