Strolling through spectacular ornamental gardens and traversing miles of waterfront and woodland trails, visitors are delighted by the beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls and fountains, and scenic views. It's no wonder the Gardens have been hailed as one of Maine's top three attractions. The Gardens are open 9-5 April 15 - October 31 (open until 6 pm in July and August). We spent the afternoon at the Botanical Gardens in August last year and loved it! The children's gardens were a hit!. We spent most of the afternoon exploring the trails and just relaxing in the sun. Plenty of hiking and if you needed it there were carts to pick you up at certain locations if a ride was necessary. We loved the fairy houses, the roses and the occasional butterfly. Such a welcome treat before a long ride home. We noticed that a wedding reception was about to take place later on in the day and enjoyed watching it being set up.. What a wonderful spot for a wedding! We loved the cafe and the gift shop. Not to mention the sustainable education center Impressive. A must see for all those who love gardens! We will be back next year for sure!

What a lovely place to smell the roses! Or anything else that may be in seasonal bloom! Enjoy a walk on the well-kept carriage trails or paths. There is a children's area with a rope bridge and fairy houses. There are ponds with pollywogs, sculptures placed throughout. Most of the flora is identified with a plaque, for inquiring minds. A great place to bring the family or to spend an introspective time alone.

We visit the Gardens often and so enjoy the changing seasons in the Gardens. There is always beauty to take in amongst all the many gardens. There is an awesome Childrens Garden where there is a miniature lobster boat to haul a trap from, a bear from the book Blueberries for Sal to admire and treehouses to walk between on a rope bridge. There is also a Fairy Garden where children can make their own fairy houses from natures own special furnishings. We enjoy walking through that part of the gardens as much as the main gardens! There is a sandbox for the little ones and a well pump...chickens and a playhouse as well as a little room full of books for Story Time! A truly magnificent Garden indeed. And stop by the Garden Café for a snack or lunch, you won't be disappointed!
