“Best Lobster dinner at sea”
Reviewed 25 August 2009

We have been to Cabbage Island 3 times, it is such a good time for the money, and the food is excellent. We brought friends up last year, and they went with us to the island, and absolutely loved it. Nice boat ride first, and then get your bib on for a feast. Would do it again, great fun, excellent staff.

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 19 August 2009

I went to the Clambake at Cabbage Island just two weeks and had such a brilliant time.
The food was just unbelievable and I did wonder what the egg was about but hey it was good. The boat ride over to the island was not long and really enjoyable. I am from London and went with two friends that live in NY and have definately told everyone here that if they are ever in Maine they must find there way there.

“If You Love Lobster, a Must-Do Experience!”
Reviewed 18 July 2009

The Cabbage Island Clambake is much more than your ordinary clambake. The meal included fish chower (flavorful but a bit watery), 2 juicy, tasty lobsters, a serving of clams, corn on the cob, potato, and onion, all steamed over a wood fire under a bed of seaweed. Although the dessert was a blueberry cake that was dry and relatively tasteless, this was truly the best meal we had on our vacation in Maine! The service was also wonderful. The staff on the island were all very attentive, even though they were feeding around 150 people at one time.

The only downside was that the boat that took us to the island was not very comfortable, particularly not for the hour cruise tour it took us on before we went to the island. Fortunately, the trip back to Boothbay Harbor was a direct 25 minutes back.

If you are traveling to Boothbay Harbor, the Cabbage Island Clambake is a must!

“great fun, great food”
Reviewed 1 August 2008

This was our second year at the Cabbage Island Clambake. Last year we stumbled upon it after having our whale watch cancelled, and we loved every minute of the day! The kids all pestered us this year to make sure we went back there.

The 30 minute boat ride is a nice overview of the inner and outer harbor area. The island itself is very family friendly. There are many picnic tables spread about the small island, so it never felt crowded. There was a volleyball court on the lawn, and many places to explore before the meal. My family managed to walk to the east end of the island to see an Osprey nest twice while we were there.

The clambake itself is very interesting. We all enjoyed seeing how the lobsters and other items were steamed in big "trays"(?) on the rocks overlooking the water. Service was quick and friendly, and the meal itself was delicious! TWO 1 1/4 lb lobsters, steamers, clam chowder, corn, potatoes, onion, a hard boiled egg (?) and wonderful Maine Blueberry Cake for dessert.

I highly recommend this family friendly day trip.

“Cabbage Island Picnic”
Reviewed 6 July 2008

Family run operation. Very organized. Interesting boat ride (drinks and snacks available) about 30 minutes or so around harbor and out to private island, like visiting a private lodge with picnic tables.
Lots of good food. Clams & lobsters cooked on beach under seaweed. Chicken available. Also chowder, potato, corn and blueberry cake for dessert. Trail for a short walk or volleyball on the lawn.
Boat ride back shorter.
Only caution is ladies need to get to bathroom before line gets too long before the boat starts back.
