Our son got married at SPI this past June and other than the spectacular view, we were very disappointed in our 3 night stay on the property. We experienced much of the same as other reviewers-slow service or no service at all, inexperienced and incompetent staff. For a very expensive resort, the customer service was extremely poor, and it was not worth the high price we paid. Several guests had issues with their rooms-fresh paint odor, which was overwhelming for a guest with asthma, trouble with air conditioning, no bell/luggage service, no wood for cottage fire places, no maid service for many rooms on the day of the wedding, which meant no clean towels for most of our wedding guests, no phone service, etc. Our son and his fiance were assigned 3 different wedding planners, so several very important details for the reception were overlooked, which was extremely embarrassing. I did give them the opportunity to make things right when I wrote a very detailed letter to the two inn keepers and general manager, and all I received back was a "thank you for your input-we'll keep your points in mind for future training..." I have called the general manager twice, but have yet to hear back from her after leaving a 2nd message. Several guests filled out comment cards, but they have yet to hear from the innkeepers as well. I recommend looking at other places to stay while you are visiting Boothbay Harbor.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting a review about your wedding event back in June. I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the service you received. I do recall your event and recognize that the Inn was simply not the right fit. The staff tried very hard to accommodate you all --- but even security found that difficult...due to misbehavior. I wish you well.

I recently stayed at SPI and highly recommend the resort. The property is beautiful and the staff is warm and friendly. We enjoyed the food at their pub restaurant and stayed to listen to the live entertainment in the bar. But nothing can beat an afternoon sitting beside the oceanfront pool!

Room Tip: Book a room with a view if possible! Worth every penny.

We were there this past weekend for a four day stay to visit with family. We loved it but there were definitely some major glitches. One day, they completely forgot to clean our room. The other issue involved a rollaway which I requested from the front desk and housekeeping two days prior to needing it and was told it would be in the room..it wasn't and I had to call at 11 p.m. And wait about a half hour to get it. The place is beautiful, clean and the staff is very friendly...but even good places make mistakes..not cleaning the room is a pretty big one. Both the shuttle service to town by car and boat were great. It is the best place in Booth Bay.

Room Tip: We stayed in Evergreen 4. It was a great location, ocean view would recommend. Our family consiste...

My husband and I have not been to Spruce Point Inn since 2010. We were so excited to return. We stayed in the Crows nest on the top floor of the inn, The view was spectacular from our deck and it was decoraed in a nautical theme, we were there for 3 nights with plenty of things to do. We took the boat launch the (bright line) into town with capain Shawn who gave us a great tour of Boothbay Harbor. We had the couples seaside massage. It was the best massage my husband and I have ever had with (Susan and William). I would recommend booking spa appointments before you go, We had dinner in Bogie's that had a casual atmosphere. The food was outstanding (lobster mac & cheese, and the homemade meatloaf). We also had reservations for dinner in the formal dining room 88. A beautiful room, more up scale with a spectacular views of the water. We were greeted by the owners daughter (Ashley) who remembered us from our last visit. Our server (Lauren) was so personable and helpful wih all her recommendations. Mussels, Beet Salad, Cedar planked smoked Salmon filet., We were so full but we still were able to share a dessert (lemon thyme cheesecake). From house keepig to the bellman all the staff was so helpful and was there to meet all our needs.. I booked our vacation for 2013. Counting the days!

My husband and I (from the midwest) stayed here in June 2012 and had the most wonderful time! The staff was incredibly friendly, and there were many activities to pursue. We enjoyed walking the trails around the property, and the dining options were exceptional. The very best part of our trip was a day on the water, courtesy of the resort's boat (there are two that guests can utilize at no charge). Captain Shawn provided us with a tour of the harbor, and as time allowed, some other great places on the water. He offered suggestions for lunch and activities. His excitement for the area, and helpful suggestions made our trip! We did not want to leave!

Room Tip: Rooms with partial oceanview are less costly, but still great!

My family and I stayed at the Spruce Point Inn and it was really nice. The location is great (overlooking the water) and they have a number of amenities - game room for the kids, free kayaks to take out onto the water, boat/van shuttle to the town of Boothbay. They also have free laundry facilities which came in handy. They had a campfire with Smores which was a nice touch. Everyone who helped us (shuttle captains, waterfront people) was very nice.

It wasn't too crowded when we were there, even though it was summer. We didn't have a waterfront room but it was OK because we could walk 20 feet and see the water. Rooms have a kitchenette which is helpful and they are spacious.

The only knock on the place is that the front desk only had one person working while we were there and they seemed a little overwhelmed.

Other than that, it was a great stay in a beautiful resort. The whole place feels like a slightly upscale sleepaway camp so it is good for families. The town of Boothbay is also really cute with lots of great seafood and ice cream!

We experienced a fantastic, memorable family vacation at The Spruce Point Inn. Our family particularly enjoyed swimming in the waterfront saltwater pool while watching the boats go by, kayaking from the dock, hiking and biking around the property, and playing tennis and shuffleboard. The kids liked alternating between the saltwater pool and freshwater pool. We dined on consistently excellent fare at Bogie's and 88. Don't miss the Glidden Point oysters, crab cakes, cocoa-chili sea scallops, and of course, Maine lobster. Breakfasts were fresh and hearty. Our family looked forward to visiting the "Smores Station" in the evening. There's a fire pit surrounded by chairs & a stand with friendly staff and complimentary supplies. We enjoyed this old fashioned experience while chatting with other guests. We found the staff at The Spruce Point Inn to be exceptionally warm and accommodating. We are already planning next year's visit to this very special resort.
