“Maine Trip”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

The oysters were outstanding, fresh and scrumptious. Lobster salad with mango vanilla foam is the taste of summer.......
Awesome third floor rooftop seating and service was very good considering they were a wait staff short.
Claim chowder was very good.
Lunch is very busy as folks are looking for the view of the harbor.
Great variety of beer!

“Disappointing experience”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Had the seafood paella and it tasted like ocean- too salty it was unedible. Cook was defensive and said cooked as always nothing was wrong with it and there was nothing comped. Never coming back and would not recommend.

Awesome roof top deck & bar area! Gourmet selections that are delicious.
The signature drinks are refreshing! The staff is very professional & attentive! Their Risotto dishes are amazing, they don't skimp on dinner portions! A must eat when in Boothbay Harbor !

“Wonderful dinner”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Five of us chose The Boathouse Bistro at the last minute and were so glad we did. Although the rooftop dining room was filled we scored an outside table on the second floor and watched the sun set over the harbor. A large menu made choosing difficult. Two malbecs were offered by the glass and the server answered quickly when asked his favorite. The service was friendly and efficient. Two of us ordered steak, one with risotto the other with potato. Both were very pleased. The vegetarian enjoyed the vegetable risotto. The last big eater said the swordfish steak was cooked to perfection and a large portion satisfied. I chose Farstead Blue Cheese Cake ~ $7 which consisted of Farstead blue cheese cake in a pecan crust, served with cherry pear compote. I moaned with delight. This followed by Steak Madagascar ~ $9 Coarse pepper encrusted pan seared hanger steak. Served with a demi glaze that is blended with cognac and cream that was equally as good and a great foil to the malbec.

It was the best meal we had while in Boothbay.

“Excellent Risotto- great atmosphere - a little pricey”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

We came here last night with a group of 8 around 7:30 and sat out on the 3rd floor roof deck. When you come, sit up here at one of the umbrella tables. My wife and I sampled the shrimp and grits tapas. The grits were creamy and the shrimp was fresh with a little kick. I had the grilled lobster tail on asparagus risotto dinner. The risotto was done perfectly (rare to find in a restaurant in the states). The lobster tails were good although one of them didn't have a lot of meat in it. Our server (a Russian med student here for the summer) was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Dinner for 8 with 2 bottles of wine came to $360.00 - a little pricey. We would have ordered more tapas but they seemed to range between $12 and $15 each which can add up quickly. The lobster tail and risotto that I had was $26.00 but it was a meal - not just tapas. In summary - the food is very good, atmosphere on the 3rd floor deck was nice and the service was good. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's Just a little pricey.
