“What a great place to get away and relax.”
Reviewed 15 June 2008

My wife and I wanted to find a B&B to get away for a week as we celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. We are so pleased that we stayed at the Atlantic Ark Inn. The Inn itself is beautiful and we stayed in the Bliss room for an entire week. The accommodations were very well kept and the Bliss room was comfortable and spaceous. To us what really made the Inn special was its Innkeeper - Donna. She was a woderful hostess and a kind and gentle spirit. We enjoyed both the food and the conversations. We will definitely look to stay there again for a getaway weekend.

We stayed here for 2 nights, just at the beginning of the tourist season. Among other things, we were very happy with the location. The B&B is a short walk (about a block) to the footbridge that leads you into the main part of town, so it is far enough away from the crowds, but close enough to walk. Donna, the innkeeper, made us feel very at home, welcoming us to come to the kitchen for coffee first thing in the morning, sit on the porch with our wine in the afternoon and even packing us muffins to take with us for the drive (we checked out before breakfast).
We stayed in the Lightness room. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. It is impossible NOT to relax while staying here. Just what we needed!

The Atlantic Ark offered a unique night that leaves us anxious to come back and spend more time here. As soon as we arrived, we had found a genuine Bed and Breakfast experience that we can't wait to share with others.

Donna, the Innkeeper, offered a tour of the quaint Inn that featured a large common space, dinning room, beautiful porch, and (best of all) our room. We spent the night in the 'Beauty' room and want a few more nights there even as we leave. The ammenities, sheets, clean walls, and fresh flowers were a welcome sight to our eyes.

We are in the midst of a week long road trip tour of New England comming out of Pennsylvania. Seeing the Atlantic Ark, talking to Donna, and climbing into that bed made our stay in Boothbay a night to remember for a long time to come.

The bed...the bed. So comfortable and so welcome to our bodies after 'roughing' it in Conn, Mass, and Maine (in Acadia -- beautiful as well if you havn't been). The room was quite and so much apprieciated and enjoyed.

Waking up offered an another amazing view of the bay. I grabbed a cup of apple juice (offered up on the previous days tour by Donna) and sat on the porch. I enjoyed the view from there and took in the sights, smells and sound of an early morning (and off season) fishermens town. As I sit and type this on the Inns wireless internet, I look forward to coming back, talking with Donna, and enjoying Boothbay in the years to come.

I can't praise Donna, the Innkeeper, enough. She made every attempt to make our stay in Boothbay that much more special. Talking with her about her life, her goals, our goals, and dreams...I will certianly cherish our morning conversation here at the Atlantic Ark Inn in beautiful Boothbay Harbor.

  • Liked — The service, the smiles and the bed...
  • Disliked — how short it was...only one night...wanting more now

We needed to get away for a 3 day retreat and found the perffect place. Everything about the Inn is fantastic, we stayed in the Bliss room which is very simple yet elegant. A beautiful harbor view awaits you every morning from your bed and overall comfort of the room is outstanding. The breakfast each morning was very tasteful with a different suprise menu each day. The hostess Donna was extremely helpful in guiding you throughout the area with planning tips for a perfect day. We are already planning a return in the summer to enjoy the hospitality once again.

My husband and I needed to get away for our second honeymoon. We have always wanted to go to Maine and my co-worker told me about this place. This place was very romantic and we stayed in the Bliss room. Prices were reasonable and the "hostess" was EXCELLENT. She made you feel you were at HOME. The hostess made us feel very SPECIAL at her place. You will view the harbor. My husband and I have decided that this place would be our yearly spot in Maine. My husband and I cannot wait until next year to see our hostess/ new FRIEND Donna.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Atlantic Ark Inn. The main innkeeper left about half way through our stay and we met a caretaker as well. Both were very sweet, friendly, and helpful.

The inn is on the quiet side of of the harbor. It was a very easy walk to the footbridge. Great location! The room was fresh, clean, and had a simple elegance to it. We did have a small, private deck outside our door. It had a table and two chairs. We spent each evening on the deck looking at the harbor and enjoying a glass of wine. The gardens were lovely and fresh sprigs of cut flowers adorned our pillows each night at turn-down.

The house was comfortable and we were allowed into the kitchen for wine glasses, corkscrews, and ice buckets. Donna had no problem with us using the refrigerator to store my medicine. It was very easy going and comfortable.

The breakfasts were lovely. The one that I still rave about was the Maine blueberry stuffed French toast. Mmmmmm......delicious. We also had quiche and a fritatta with fresh fruit and bread. We dined each morning on the front porch at tables that have a slight very to the harbor. We also took advantage of the rocking chairs on the front porch to read the paper and plan our day. We never had any problems with parking and would come and go in the car with ease.

Donna also gave directions to a secluded park and inlet that was breathtaking. We met local artists there. Everyone was so friendly. When we return, we think that we would like to enjoy the small cottage in the back yard. We met the guest there and they gave us a tour. It was truly private and lovely.

We had a wonderful time in Boothbay Harbor and feel that our great stay at this inn was a big part of it. Thank you.

  • Liked — The private deck outside our room
  • Disliked — Airconditioner had a long curtain blocking it. We rigged it to freely blow.

We stayed in the upstair room, which was beautiful. We stayed over 4th of July - the view of the fireworks was spectacular! We lay in our bed and watched the view through the picture windows. Our room had a tub for 2 which was nice; it was a breezy, crisp, clean and lovely room. The flower and cookie on our pillow was a nice touch.

The breakfast were nice. . . all vegetarian - quiches and fruit (which I like. . . but not the best every day). The tables were set beautifully as well - however it felt a bit controlling and not as relaxing for the meals. The other couple we sat with while there one morning felt that they had to be there for breakfast or they would offend the hostess.

Truly the down side is that it is on a main street (right across from the Lobster dock - essentially). It was loud and the view of the water is through the parking lots of some motel.

Every B & B we have stayed in has some ecclectic charm, which this does as well . . . hostess, food, and all; however, we probably would find another B & B next time. . . a little more off the beaten path.
